Car enthusiasts around the world often have to pick and choose the events they want to attend over the course of a year. There are so many motor shows, vintage car displays, races, and rallies that it’d be impossible to attend them all.
What, then, are some of the most exciting car events coming in 2020? Better pack your passport, because 2020 is set to be an international car lover’s dream year.
Retromobile
There are already plenty of reasons to visit Paris, France. Between the fifth and the ninth, you’ll want to drop by to enjoy Retromobile. This car expo will serve as the stage for Asi Bertone Collection and the Volkswagen Combi. You’ll also be able to attend Retromobile workshops that range from explorations of the expo’s history to the sales process that drives the classic vehicle market.
King of the Hammers
If races are more your thing, you’ll want to spend early February in Johnson Valley, California. From January 31st to February 9th you’ll be able to attend the King of the Hammers spectacle in the pop-up city of Hammertown. While you’ll need to bring an RV if you want to stay comfortable, this race and celebration of off-road racing is not an event to miss.
The London Classic Car Show
The London Classic Car Show is on the move this year and will be planting its roots in Olympia London come 2020. Running from February 20th to 23rd you’ll be able to find all manner of classic and vintage cars for sale at this can’t-miss show. Celebrate Citroen's centenary year while browsing the classic cars that could grace your garage this year.
Essen Techno Classica

Radwood Car Show
If you’re looking for a car show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, then you’ll want to make your way out to Austin, Texas in late February. Here, you’ll be able to attend Radwood, a car show that celebrates the automotive developments of the 1980s and 90s. Only in its third year of operation, you’ll be able to enjoy the show’s eclectic nature, as it brings Japanese and European hybrids onto American soil. You can even display your own vehicle, so long as you pay the show’s relatively low entry fee.
Indianapolis 500
What’s a more quintessential car-lover event than the Indianapolis 500? Whether you’re following the Triple Crown of Motorsport or just want to celebrate Midwestern car culture, you’ll want to head to the Crossroads of America come May 24th, 2020. Arrive a week early if you want to enjoy some of the pre-capstone races, then strap in for 200 miles of speed and skill.
Le Mans Classics
One of the younger car events to shake the world stage, Le Mans Classics will take place between July 2nd and 5th this year. Vintage dress is encouraged at this rally as it works to celebrate the automotive developments that transformed the international automotive industry. You better be prepared for the long-haul, though – this 24 hour race is unforgiving, but well-worth the dedication.
Concours of Elegance
For folks who prefer to travel in the fall, there’s the Concours of Elegance at the Hampton Court Palace. Running between September 4th and 6th, this veritable rare vehicle museum puts over 300 of the most valuable vehicles in the world on display. Not only will you be able to tour this display at your leisure, but you’ll be able to enjoy all the luxury that the vehicles’ rarity implies. This event is a far cry from off-road rallies or even car-lover staples like the Indy 500, so be sure to dress accordingly!
