Bridgestone Ecopia EP500 is a new Bridgestone product for the summer season of 2014. This model is the result of cooperation between Bridgestone and BMW. This German carmaker proposed that Bridgestone create tyres for its revolutionary electric car, the BMW i3. The Japanese company was pleased to accept this interesting challenge and came up with Bridgestone Ecopia EP500. This model is the product of great experience, technological expertise, modern engineering and the passion of Bridgestone employees.
The task was to create a tyre that would perfectly match the concept of mobility defined by BMW. The design of this model is based on "ologic" technology, which is focused on the synergy between large diameter and narrow tread of the tyre. The result was a product, which has very good aerodynamics and low rolling resistance, maintaining excellent performance in wet conditions.
The combination of the large diameter and narrow tread provides a number of important features. It significantly reduces the risk of tyre deformation and, moreover, internal friction is also reduced, ensuring lower energy consumption and thus, lower rolling resistance. These features do not compromise the safety parameters of the tyre. The advanced tread pattern, increased road contact surface and high-quality rubber compound guarantee good grip in dry and wet conditions .
"Ologic" technology, used for creating Bridgestone Ecopia EP500, is one of the steps towards halving CO2 emissions by 2050, as agreed by international authorities.
Bridgestone is a world-renowned Japanese tyre company, which has been in operation since 1931. The company owns tyre brands such tyres Firestone and Dayton.
