I’ve always heard only good opinions on Nokian tyres from all of their users. The tyres do well in tests and they’re recommended by sellers. I’ve driven on the Hakkapelitta model in Scandinavia myself but in completely different conditions. The only thing that made me cringe is the country of manufacture, which is Russia (because of the situation in Europe). However, I’ve spent my previous winter on the Nokian tyres so I’ve took a chance and bought WR SUV 3. Overall impression is very good. They’re in deed great tyres for snow (better than most of the winter tyres that I’ve ever used before from the premium shelf (mainly Goodyear, Dunlop and Pirelli). For wet weather, because of the aquaplaning I tend to use other tyres though. Once while driving on the highway at a speed of 100 mph the tyre was torn out. That was a first in my entire career. I don’t really know how it could happen as it was the side of the tyre, not tread so my assumption is that it was rather the failure of the tyre and not driving onto something sharp. Pressure, speed index and load capacity were adequate. I do not know what was the reason. I’ll never know. I have this weird impression in the back of my head that this wouldn’t happen if the tyre weren’t made in Russia. On the other hand I’m pretty sure that Nokian’s quality shouldn’t change because of the place of production. Would this make any change if the tyre was produced in a country with higher technical culture? I’m not sure. Sorry Nokian. I gave you a chance, but I don’t know if I want to risk my families life. After replacing my Pirelli all season tyres with Nokian WR SUV 3 tyres, the interior of the car got much more silent. They allow you full control of the car on dry and wet surface - now I am waiting to test them on snow. They behave much better than AT tyres on light off-road, and we still have to remember that the best tyres for real mud are the MTs. The first impression on Nokian WR SUV 3 is very positive. It's a new model, which is very quiet (the WR G2 was quite loud), it provides great traction on both wet and dry surface (temperature of ca. 10 degrees). It also provides you with high shock absorption. It keeps its shape and doesn't cause any problems in balancing. As for now, I can recommend these tyres and can't wait for harsher conditions. Nokian WR SUV 3 is definitely a tyre worth recommending. I have tested it on dry and wet motorways and on snowy winding roads of Italian Alps. Handling is very confident, ESP didn't even have to switch on - and I also tested them in rush starts from the spot. Braking is also very good. This is a great tyre. It behaves perfectly and makes the handling very confident. I have an impression it's much quieter than my previous tyres, which were also Nokian tyres. I would prefer it with squarer shoulders with extra large imprint effect. Also should have a robust flange save the left or save sidewalks, the latter always higher and with the sharp edges.
