The Continental WinterContact TS 870is a premium winter tyre that has been developed as a successor to the award-winning TS 860. Featuring a new polymer compound and a redesigned tread for snow and ice performance, the new version offers even better performance in the most demanding conditions.
The German manufacturer states that the WinterContact TS 870 has achieved the following as compared to its predecessor:
Reduce braking distance on ice by 5%.
Improve handling on a snowy road by 5%.
Extend tyre life span by 7%
Reduce rolling resistance by 4%.
How has this been achieved? The new tread design has more blocks and sipes to clear snow and mud from the tyre surface. What's more, the edge-rich design transfers dynamic forces better, preventing grip breaking on snow. Also innovative are the pocket sipes that are responsible for the tyre's ability to cope with accumulated snow.
Of great importance for the performance of the WinterContact TS 870 in typical winter conditions is the material from which it is made. The Cool Chili rubber compound contains special resin admixtures, which makes it flexible. It provides shorter braking distances on wet roads, as well as slower wear and more efficient rolling.
The new winter tyre from the German manufacturer also stands out in terms of noise. The low noise level generated during driving makes it one of the quietest winter tyres.
Continental is one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the world. The group also manages brands such as Semperit, Barum and Uniroyal. The tyres released by the German company are renowned for their reliability.
