Tyre details:

The Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT is installed as an original part in the Mercedes C63 AMG and C63 T.

The Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT is a tyre designed for demanding drivers, who value outstanding quality and uncompromising performance in any situation. The model is designed for fast sports cars and limousines with a high performance engine. The tyre's asymmetric tread pattern gives it excellent performance specifications on both wet and dry surfaces. The central rib improves driving precision, while the asymmetric layout of the grooves maintains grip even on very wet roads. This all means that cars that use the Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT perform exceptionally well and dynamically not only on straight roads but also on corners and during fast, precision manoeuvres. The smooth tread profile increases the contact area between the tyre and the road, ensuring excellent grip and increased steering precision.

The tyre comes with a rim protection system – a rubber border protecting the rim against damage, which means that drivers using Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT tyres do not have to worry about damage to the rim. The addition of silica compounds to the rubber used has increased acceleration and reduced rolling resistance, resulting in lower fuel consumption. The tyre has been designed for those who favour a sporty and dynamic style of driving, which is why the development of a well-balanced compound was a key issue when creating this model. Better control on corners, a fast response to steering movements and excellent performance on wet surfaces all mean that the Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT is ideal for drivers who enjoy a fast and sporty style of driving.

Dunlop's history stretches back to 1888 when John Dunlop founded and patented the first pneumatic tyre. The British brand is currently part of the Goodyear group, which manages brands such as: Fulda, Sava and Arrowspeed. Apart from the production of tyres for passenger cars, the company also releases 300,000 special tyres for racing cars each year.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I am very positively surprised by these tyres. I admit that I have already used Dunlop SP Sport 01, so the requirements were quite high. Sport Maxx is a relatively quiet tyre on my car although SP Sport 01 seemed quieter to me. It looks very cool - the protective function of the rims works great - the tyre has an excess of rubber that protects the rim from rubbing against the curb. After driving about 15k km in various conditions I can fully say that the behavior on wet surfaces is sensational - it allows you to easily master the car even with dynamic driving (highway speeds) in heavy rain. I probably didn't feel so at SP Sport 01 or earlier Bridgestone Turanza. Grip on dry surfaces is amazing - I was driving along the A1 highway during a gale - speeds between 130-140 km / h - stable car. Strong gusts when leaving from behind noise barriers meant that the car was throwing but the steering wheel remained unmoved, the direction of travel unmoved. Let there be no negatives - good grip makes the fuel appetite increase - in my case it is about 0.2 - 0.3l / 100 km (depending on speed) - compared to Bridgestone Turanza, so generally without drama but still ... I also found one tyre that was slightly bulged - you can see it only on the balancing device when the wheel is spinning (imperceptible to the naked eye). The consequence was that one of the vulcanizers could not balance it - about 110 km / h you could feel a gentle beat on the steering wheel. Fortunately, another did without a problem - there was a need to stick weights in 3 places. Maybe this is just my 1 full copy .... In general, with a clear conscience recommend! Read more Collapse

I have been driving an average of 60,000 a year for several years, regardless of the road conditions, which is why I put good tyres on. Until now, I have mainly used high-end brands and model brands: mainly Michelin, I also had Pirelli twice and Good Year. Due to the car's power and aggressive driving style, the tyres did not last long. In the case of Dunlop I decided to do a small experiment because the tyres had very good reviews and the price was tempting compared to the above-mentioned brands (the difference on only one tyre reached about 30 GBP). I was not disappointed, and even I am very happy with the choice. I will purchase Dunlop for winter as well. The tyres are really very quiet, they keep well in sharper corners and on a wet road they are draining water well. An important element for me is also the tyre durability, so far after 15k you cannot see any special wear - I think they should last for 60-70k. Visually, they also look great, I think the tread pattern fits both sports cars and limousines. I would recommend - a great compromise between quality and price. Read more Collapse

I've traveled about 13kkm on tires. My driving style is very diverse, from calm to very dynamic (not to be confused with aggressive). At the moment, I haven't noticed the major drawbacks of this tyre. As for the noise it is not too high and actually with the diesel engine barely audible. Behavior on dry surfaces: the tyres perform very well, I did not see any slippage when cornering at a reasonable speed, and the car is quite difficult to unbalance. However, wet is a bit worse. With dynamic starting, it happens to lose traction, but when driving at a constant speed, even on the highway, the water is drained very well from under the wheels. When sudden braking on dry car does not lose grip, unless there is some sand, in the wet it is way easier. Suppressing unevenness is not the best, but for a fairly low profile it is good. As for tire wear, it is hard for me to say something more, I have traveled only 13kkm on them. I also did not notice that the tyres behave somehow unnaturally. Failure rate: none. In short, I highly recommend. Read more Collapse

Generally a tiye worth recommending, I know what I’m taking, but there are a few comments. First of all, what hurts the most - I got tyres with three production dates (2x1114; 0814; 2014). 1x1114 and 1x0814 landed (unfortunately) on the front axle. Effect? Above 120km / h, pull to one side (without beating; without any vibrations; after accurate balancing). After changing wheels L <> P pull to the other side. Evident greater rolling resistance in one of the wheels. After mounting on the front 2x1114 the problem disappeared. Solution? Order tyres only with the same production date. The second thing is volume. I knew it would be louder but not so;) But ... generally a tyre worth recommending. Grip great. With dynamic turning the steering wheel floats a little (pressure 2.6), but let's say that fresh rubber with a high tread and a soft compound. The grades I've posted relate to the set that I received in one delivery. Poor "behavior on the road". I suspect that if I got tyres from the same date, the ratings would be maximum. I bought tyres in April for the BMW e39 530d. The tyres are great, braking on dry and wet is phenomenal. How good, I realized, braking on the road during the rain in front of the lights. The driver who was located a considerable distance behind me finished braking on the left turn lane. During braking I felt and heard the tyres "moan" transferring braking force to asphalt. I did not expect such braking power on the wet conditions. ABS didn't turn on. In turns, it behaves very understandable to the driver, but having 410Nm with rear-wheel drive and automatic DSC transmission it sometimes turns on when overtaking dynamically. On the other hand, starting straight ahead does not break the grip in most cases. Wear also seems to be the most acceptable, despite the fact that I read reviews of fairly rapid tread wear. I do not confirm this, I drive a lot on the routes and abnormally torture tyres with aggressive driving. Read more Collapse

I had used Dunlop before my first BMW. My first three beamers had TRX rims, so one's choice of tyre was VERY limited. In 2000 I bought a 740i with standard wheels and later another 735i and used Continental until I needed two rears last year. I bought Continental for best wet grip because I live in Manchester and because I am unlikely to reach my tyres' limits in the dry, but it is very easy to get caught out in the wet.. I was surprised to find that the Dunlop's had better wet grip, lower noise and lower fuel use than the Continental's, but more surprisingly were substantially less costly. I have had the tyres on for a year now and I am well satisfied with their performance. Read more Collapse

I highly recommend Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT who haven’t decided yet. I drove only 3000 miles on Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT but could see how the car is doing on bands. Car is simply sliding on the roads. Definitely the best tyres I’ve ever rode and I had many premium class ones. I have nothing to complain at: great on wet and dry. Next time I will not experiment with other tyres as I don’t think any tyre can come closer to Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT. I will buy Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT for sure when those will wear. I give my word on the tyres for all undecided ones as there is nothing to complain at. Read more Collapse

SP SportMaxx RT are supporting car on mountain roads very good. On highway SP SportMaxx RT are doing very good, other words: a very good tyre! However, only on Highway. I was riding Conti Sport 3 earlier and they were awesome on both asphalt and country roads. SP SportMaxx RT are not doing well on country roads. SP SportMaxx RT are made from soft compound which makes them wear significantly faster, but are great on asphalt. I will look for forest efficient tyres or country roads great both on asphalt and country roads. Continentals were just like that... Read more Collapse

Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT are very good. Incredibly silent, but above all, keeping the wet - the car handles like on rails. Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT have had only a few trips abroad, I bought Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT at the end of summer and at the moment I've been using the winter ones, the distance is 2500 miles and has not noticed even the slightest tread wear, although I must admit that the new Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT tread is relatively low compared to the competition .. oscillates within 7-8mm. In a word, I would recommend. Read more Collapse

Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT are excellent in every aspect, designed to road holding in all conditions, braking good, no problem of loss of grip at the start, even uphill or with rapid acceleration! Really cool and silent rolling! And to think that I come from high-end sets of tires, such as Michelin, Continental, I changed my mind and I can say that Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT has given me more satisfaction to the guide! I had previously Conti3 with reinforced rim and then I bought Dunlops based on their noise level and fuel efficiency. I am happy with the noise level, not 100% sure if my mpg went up though.=, plus these are comfier then the Contis. Grip is respectable in dry and wet, Passat not a drivers car remember. I can not comment how these perform in snow as I have a set of winter tires and done on these Dunlops about 5k miles they still look very good! I would recommend these! Read more Collapse

these are my 2nd set on the Jaguar, having got good wear from the previous set I had no hesitation on purchasing again. I had almost 18,000 on the last set - I will admit I rotate the tyres from back to front to wear even and have my tracking regularly checked. The Dunlops are positive in response you know where the limit is although they have rarely been exceeded even though I carry a lot of corner speed normally. Read more Collapse
