Goodyear UG Performance G1

When I first got the tyres they seemed to be a little soft. There was a slight delay on the steering input. Either the tyres have become a little stiffer with use or I don't notice it anymore. The winter has been mild but I did encounter snow falling snow and a light layer of snow driving home one evening. There was no lose of traction and the car was we'll behaved at all times. I have been surprised many times stepping out of the car onto an icy car park and realising how slippery the conditions where. The car only broke grip once on an untreated road. It broke grip on all four wheels but it quickly recovered. Winter tyres don't make you invulnerable but for a rear wheel drive BMW they do provide better traction in winter. Winter tyres are not summer sport tyres. They cannot take the same amount of power as the summer tyres. I can feel some flex if to much power is applied but you really shouldn't drive near full throttle in winter. However they are much quieter than the summer tyres and provide a more comfortable ride. Anyone who buys these tyres would need to set their expectations according. It still debatable if you need winters tyres in the UK. However on the winter days when you get stuck and have no traction you will be sorry you do not have them. Read more Collapse

I decided to wait a bit before writing my review. I am not a tyre specialist but I must admit that these Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres are great. I have very positive impressions and I would like to recommend these tyres to everybody. I did not expect tchem to be so good. I have never had any problems with moving off uphill in mud and deep snow. Even ABS system did not have to operate in my vehicle. In my old Ford Mondeo I had some Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance and they lasted for seven seasons! The Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres are even better! They are worth their price. I have felt a significant difference once I exchanged my old Kleber HP2s to these Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres. My driving style is quite aggressive. The tyres provide very good grip in wet weather. I have an impression that they provide better traction in winter than my summer tyres (Continental ContiSportContact5) in dry conditions. My old Klebers cannot be even compared to these tyres. I usually drive on non-urban roads, less frequently in a city or on a highway. I do recommend the Goodyear UG Performance G1. I do agree with all comments about the Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres. They provide an excellent grip. I have done quite a lot of miles on them and I am surprised by their overall performance. They prevent my car from skidding even in the most demanding weather conditions. It feels like my vehicle was sticked to the road. It is an outstanding feeling. The Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres provide good traction in winter conditions. Driving is very safe and comfortable both in dry and wet weather conditions. Even in slush they are reliable. Braking is confident. The tyres are very quiet which increases driving comfort. I would like to recommend the Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres to everybody. I highly recommend this set of tyres. The Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres perform excellently on all types of surfaces. Driving in mud and snow is a real fairy tale. Rolling resistance is low. The grip is perfect so the ABS system in my car did not have to operate. When the temperature goes down the tyres get better and better. The price is good. Nothing else to add. I do recommend them. I must say that I was a big fan of Pirelli and Dunlop tyres but after trying the Goodyear UG Performance G1 model I will not purchase any different brand of premium tyres than Goodyear. The tyres do their job even on ice and in deep snow. Their grip is superb. I do not know if they are better than Michelin but from my perspective they are one of the best tyres money can buy. Excellent tyres,unfortunately there has been no weather of the type required to drive in snow or icy roads. In the current conditions of wet and very wet they have been excellent. The service received was quick and faultless. The 5 given is for snow and slush is guesswork as there has been no snow, but Auto Express had them down as the winter driving winner. Key to the winter in the UK is to have a tyre that grips well in the wetand this tyre does exactly that whilst performing ok in dry. I am saying ok in the dry because it is no match for a summer tyre in those conditions. Chosen after doing research. Used out of city and motorway driving. Very happy to recommend. Tested a lot in flooding, heavy rain and surface water all good. Great grip and holding in 4 inches of snow. Braking and grip like the snow was not there even when compacted. Consider good value for money. Read more Collapse

The Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres are worth their price. Wet and dry weather conditions do not constitute an obstacle for them. The tyres are very quiet. Driving my car on these Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres is a real pleasure. They give you a feeling of a confidence on the road. I have not done a lot of miles on the Goodyear UG Performance G1 tyres but I can say something about them. They are very quiet – definitely quieter than my old Continental tyres. Best winter tyres ever. Winter in Europe was demanding but this tyres wore just perfect. A little expensive and loud but i bought them for a long trip to Europe and i didn’t have one single problem with them good on snow and perfect on ice and slippery surface. Just what I needed. Tires bought as this year's novelty. For dry they are ok, but he's not the case in the tire. The rain behaved longer on average, and when the rain really had much to slow down. As the novelty is rather a medium level, there is no tragedy, but also the lack of great behavior. I have not tested the snow because it has not been, but last winter showed that in the city there was not snow much, so tire for driving on a black city, at best average. Goodyear promotion of free assiastane very poor, you have to give a lot of sensitive personal data, I preferred not to serve. After changing tires the car on the highway stopped dealing confident and precyzjnie. I was sure that this can some suspension components, but the car went through a full overview, diagnostic path and at my request additional geometry setting (which was standard). Unfortunately, it turned out to be a wine tires. When it comes to assessing driving in snow and slush that this winter I did not have the possibility to check the tires. Read more Collapse

Such a situation - mountains, day after rain 50 cm snow - uphill drive to the hotel parking - BMW with 4x4 drive on winter tires - after 2 meters stands and in place, in a moment Jeep Wrangler on the winter lights - they had in place and slides on standing next to the car, my Volvo XC70 AWD on these tires - quietly goes uphill without the slightest problem. During a short tire are quiet, very well suppress, good behavior on the surface, both wet and dry-behaves almost like a summer tire. The snow had not yet tested, waiting for the first snow, but I think it will be fine. I highly recommend this tire. Read more Collapse

A tire that does not cause acoustic discomfort after changing from summer tires. It gives some driving even at highway speeds. I did not notice side skids, short braking distances, even in bad road conditions. Read more Collapse
