    Opinion from outside the UK

I would like to share my opinion about the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I decided to purchase them after reading some reviews. So far they are the best winter tyres I have ever had (my previous tyres were Michelins EnergySaver model). I do not regret my decision. I have done more than 6000 miles on them and they still look like new. The tyres are really quiet. They are unusually comfortable as for winter tyres. They are doing very good in snow and slush. They look good on a car. They could be a bit better in dry weather. Braking distance on a wet surface is very good but if you start quickly, they sometimes squeal. When it comes to their wear I cannot tell much because I would have to drive more on them. As for now there are no signs of wear. I would buy the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 again. The rubber compound is quite soft. In my previous car (Ford Focus II, 2007) I had Continental WinterContact tyres and they were not as good as the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9. I would definitely buy these Goodyears again. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I had a set of Barum Polaris 2 budget winter tyres previously mounted on my vehicle. They were OK but after five seasons the rubber compound became too hard and they began to slide in wet weather conditions. It was a high time to purchase something new and something better. My choice was the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 as I have summer tyres from the same manufacturer. They are very quiet and almost as comfortable as my summer Goodyears. Their wet grip is astonishing. Although the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is not quite a sporty tyre model, it is a real revelation for me. The price was really good. Absolutely no problem in steering on fresh or frozen snow. My car clutched the surface as if it was summer with summer tyres on. I agree with the comments I found on the Internet. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is a perfect tyre for all those who look for a reliable product from premium segment. I do strongly recommend these tyres. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I do not drive a lot but I decided to tell something about the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. Unfortunately, the last winter season was not rich in snow and slush so I was not able to test my newly purchased tyres. However, I noticed that their grip and braking in dry and wet weather conditions is great. I can say that the driving comfort is really good. Fuel consumption is not high. Internal noise level is very low. The tyres are very quiet. Their price could be a bit lower but I understand that these are top quality tyres. They are worth each penny. When you try to make your car unstable and you try to lose a grip, it is a very difficult to do so. The tyres prevent your car from skidding and they help to eliminate an aquaplaning phenomenon. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 are very good tyres and I recommend them to everybody. Read more Collapse

Technology description:

Goodyear UltraGrip 9 are winter tyres that appeared on the market as successors of the popular UltraGrip 8. Both the new and previous models received excellent ratings in tests and are popular with drivers.

Goodyear UltraGrip 9 is equipped with a directional tread pattern, is classified as a premium tyre and was designed for passenger cars. One of Its most valuable assets include a short braking distance. It has been proven, in tests carried out by different organisations, that the tyre’s braking distance on snow is shorter by 4% when compared to its 3 biggest competitors.

Also, in comparison to the previous model, the tyre offers better performance in many fields. Goodyear UltraGrip 9 performs excellently in changing winter conditions. No matter what, it deals with snow, slush, rain or dry surfaces.

This type of performance is determined by elements of the tread such as a large number of edges, sipes or tread blocks with variable geometry. Goodyear UltraGrip 9 is made of a rubber compound enriched by specific resins and vegetable oils.

As a result, the tyre quickly drains water and slush, which translates into a stable drive on slippery roads. The modern design of the blocks on the sides of the tread improves stability on bends and shortens braking distance. Its deep sipes improve movement and acceleration on snow.

By purchasing Goodyear UltraGrip 9, you may also expect a decrease in fuel consumption and it also comes with a tread wear indicator.

Note! Goodyear UltraGrip 9 is equipped with two types of directional tread (with and without a central groove).

Information on the manufacturer:

Goodyear is an American manufacturer of tyres. It is one of the largest and most valued tyre companies in the world. Goodyear tyres are distinguished by modern technological solutions and the highest level of quality. Their excellent market position today would have been impossible without the efforts made by Sieberling all the way back in 1898. Sieberling borrowed some money from his brother-in-law to establish the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company’s first plant. The Goodyear Group keeps developing too and it’s all thanks to the research laboratory which was founded in 1943 and regularly provides the company with new ideas.
