BluEarth-GT AE51D is a premium summer tyre made by a Japanese manufacturer. The Yokohama brand has taken care of the tyres' grip on both dry and wet ground. As a result, driving comfort and driving safety are at the highest level.
The shoulders of the model differ. The inner one has straight transverse grooves that connect to a tight longitudinal groove. This translates into increased comfort and a smoother ride. The outer shoulder, on the other hand, has only transverse blind grooves, which improves the rigidity of the tyres. It also benefits from a wide zigzag-shaped groove that drains water effectively.
Low noise is one of the reasons for using tyres on luxury cars, including GTs. The quietness of the model is one of the objectives of the BluEarth series, also introduced to reduce the environmental impact of the products. In addition to this, the 'Blue Earth' concept is about lightweight tyres and reducing the car's fuel consumption.
There may be minor differences in tread layout or compound content between the AE51D and the basic model (AE51). The version described was used in the first assembly of the Mazda 2.
The compound used to create the Yokohama BluEarth-GT AE51D tyre contains the already famous orange oil, the addition of which increases grip and therefore driving safety.
Established in 1917, Yokohama supplies premium tyres for a variety of vehicles, including sports cars. The highly regarded brand's tyres have been repeatedly used in the world's most important races, such as the Toyota Atlantics (now the Atlantic Championship). The manufacturer originates from Japan, where most of Yokohama's factories are located – others are located in the United States or the Philippines, for example.
