Michelin Pilot Road 3

Purchased front and rear (160 profile) as a matched pair for my 1989 Yamaha FZS Fazer 600. Currently covered 1000miles. I wasn't too concerned about wear rates as I'll sacrifice wear for grip anytime. They stick really well to the road and give great feedback through the footpegs which is just what I was looking for. Minimal warm-up needed. Excellent tread pattern across the profile; some sports bike tyres have minimal tread which can be problematic in the wet. I've made about 3 thousand miles on these tyres an I can say something about them. Perfect grip on dry and wet surface as well. No difference if it's asphalt or uneven surface the grip is still amazing. I used it generally in the city so the driving style was rather aggresive. My motorcycle is BMW F650CS so it is light and not powerful. On fast corners ( when I almost touch the ground) there is no skid.No strange behaviour at all. The sideway can be done perfectly and the vehicle stands up fastly. Very linear steering. Comparing to Michelin Pilot Road I the Michelin Pilot Road 3 is much softer. There are drawbacks as well, it is very soft on its edges. It wouldn't be so bad, if my driving style wasn't so agressive. The biggest drawback is the high treadwear on the edges where the rubber compound is softer. Actualy comparing to Pilot Road I the mileage is less for about 2 miles. I have used 2 pairs of these tyres, about 20 thousand miles. Perhaps most people could use it for higher mileage, because the tread is still useful after 10 thousand miles, but I prefer to change the tyres after each two seasons. Previous Michelin Pilot Road 3 handled about 10 thousand miles on rear. The thing is that the rear tyre after such a mileage starts to serrate but it causes co trouble. Popular amongst BMW riders I have followed the recommendations and used these on my R1200S, a bike that won't exactly challenge a rear tyre in terms of power but with a good enough chassis to make any tyre work through corners. Not as sharp/quick turning as some but I like the predictable (more rounded) profile. Good adhesion wet or dry. Excellent tread depth and dual compound gives long life (circa. 6k miles for me). The tyres worth attention, the ratio of quality and price is more than satisfying. Also my colleagues opinions are rather positive. Driving on Michelin Pilot Road 3 I felt like the vehicle was sticked to the ground- perfect grip. I have used them in Norway, where the asphalt temperature is rather lower than regular, in sharp corners the vehicle behaves really well. No suprises in high speed. I have just returned from a journey covering 3200 km and the tires seem never to have been driven, it is my 2nd pair of road pilot 3 that I bought and well impressed. The journey covered the pyrennes and the Austrian Alps and an excellent tire for many turns in dry and wet conditions with fantastic grip. I will get a few more out of these tires. I've never expected such a durability! I've made more than 1,5 thousand miles on the Michelin Pilot Road 3 and the treadwear indicator just showed up. The best thing is that the front tyre ( they have been mounted the same time) could still be used for one more season. My fiends say " If I didn't knew how much you are driving, I would never belive in tales". My driving style is really agressive and I am impressed that these tyres could handle such a mileage in this conditions. Best price for tyres this quality! I had previously Dunlop which was losing grip due to age as fitted as standard on my BMW R1100S . On this tyre it does not happen, feels solid in bends & does not lose grip even under heavy braking, no sign of tread wear yet & purchased at brilliant price and they arrived in less than a week overall very pleased with them. Very good grip. As I drive really agressive (not on dry only) the behaviour was realy shocking. On wet surface there is no difference, perfect grip as well. About 2 thousand miles made and the treadwear indicator just starting to show up. Usualy I use my motorcycle on weekends only so it lasted for long time. The main drawback of Michelin Pilot Road 3 is unequal tread wear, on the tyre edges the rubber compound is soft and the tread use was faster than on the middle but it is still worth its price. I thought that Michelin Pilot Road 3 can be too hard and I was concerned because I like to accelerate on sharp corners and my main concern was that the sideway can be dangerous. As I saw opinions about the pilot road 3 they say that the rubber compond is not so hard. I decided to go for it. It was good choice because the quality is comparable to my previous tyres. Fitted for a tour from UK via Germany, Poland, Slovakia Hungary Romania Bulgaria down to Athens and then back through the Balkans, Croatia Slovenia Austria France and back to the UK. I find the wet and dry grip to be exceptional and the handling characteristics to be very good. However it is always the mileage achieved that I still find unbelievable. When using other brands on the same motorcycle I normally get about 5000 miles. The Michelin PR3s easily give me 10000 miles Read more Collapse

These are Fantastic tyres, i use them on my ZZR1400 and get between 5,500-7,500 miles from a rear and around 12000 for a front, I use my bike for Touring 1 & 2 up with full luggage and also use them on trackdays and normal road use, I would consider myself as a 'Brisk' rider Read more Collapse

I drive a Honda Varadero and the motorcycle these tires are excellent. I bought it just before leaving the Alps and did not disappoint me, not once nor during the trip or during weekend getaways. On the back is the second piece of the tire. Next time will prove MPR 4. Read more Collapse

I am very happy with the tires, motorcycle CBF 1000 is mostly the trunks and over a hundred kilos manager, now drove 17,000 kilometers on a set cruising speed of 150-180 and rubber wanes not very good on wet asphalt and stable lead winklach. Read more Collapse

I am wearing out the third set of tires. I believe that the heavy motorcycle sports and tourism is a good choice. I have not tested yet, "fours" because I'm afraid of disappointment in relation to the "threes". Surely it again next tire will be Pilot Road. Read more Collapse

Established for Honda St 1300 He rides on it very well in all conditions. The only drawback is the rapid consumption of the sidewalls of the rapid exit of corners. I would recommend when traveling with a small load. Read more Collapse
