The Falken ZE 914 is a product belonging to the Sumitomo group, made by its subsidiary company Ohtsu Tire & Rubber Company. The Falken ZE 914 is recognised as a mid-range tyre but its affordable price does not mean that it compromises on quality or performance.

The Falken ZE 914 has an asymmetric tread pattern, which ensures that the driver feels safe whilst driving in summer on different types of surface. The dual tread design gives the driver control over the car and confidence when negotiating corners on dry surfaces and protection against skidding on wet roads. Vehicles fitted with Falken ZE 914 tyres offer a stable performance, resulting in a smooth driving experience. Thanks to the large contact surface between the tyre and the road, the tyre offers excellent grip on dry roads, while the longitudinal tread grooves effectively disperse water whilst driving on wet roads.

The Falken ZE 914 is made from a silica and polymer-enriched compound, which means that the product performs well on wet surfaces whilst also ensuring an economic driving experience (lower fuel consumption) and safety. Thanks to the relevant markings on the tyres (indicator showing tread condition), drivers can see for themselves whether the tyre needs replacing when its wear level has reached a point where it compromises safety.

The Falken ZE 914 offers the driver a comfortable and safe driving experience and protection against aquaplaning or loss of control over the vehicle. Thanks to its low price, the tyre is affordable for all drivers looking for an economical solution without compromising on quality and comfort.

Falken

Falken is a Japanese tyre brand owned by Sumitomo. It started in 1983, and two years later was introduced on the American market. Originally, Falken tyres were intended for sporty cars. Currently, they are available almost all over the world and are not only intended for the fastest cars but also for many other vehicles, such as family and urban cars, 4x4 vehicles, etc.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I was wondering for a long time over which tyres to choose. I decided to go for Falken. I admit that I was guided by the price and the opinions of others. The car that I drive has maximum speed 180km and rear-wheel drive, I might add, that this is a diesel, and these Falken ZE 914 are perfect!! :) Whether it’s in wet or dry conditions or even when I drive into a puddle nothing unexpected happens. Literally as if on rails. As for the noise I had 16inch Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D and the level is the same - none. I do not know whether it’s my car soundproof or the tyres are really that quiet, but I can’t hear them. I drive very fast and sometimes I can hear when the front tyres literally bite into the road without compromising on controllability. At 150m/H the car still behaves normally. Speaking of the wear, I do not know. I have done around 1000 miles and after washing they still look like new. I recommend them and I know that my next purchase will also be Falken but probably 19inch :) Read more Collapse

I highly recommend Falken ZE 914. I had a lot of different tyres before, always from the top shelf. In my opinion, Falken beats Michelin, Goodyear and Dunlop. I tested them with emergency braking on dry and wet roads. The car stops immediately in place. Even in the mud they managed nicely. They are very durable and resistant to abrasion. Fuel consumption in general hasn’t changed so as for me they are very economical. My Mazda at an average speed of 87m/h burns around 6l. On the highways at speeds up to 150m/h it feels like the car is flying, and in the event of a fast braking doesn’t lose control but instantly stops. From April to September 2014 I did well over 20 thousand miles using them. I haven’t noticed any significant tread wear. I drive in the city and on international routes. The only slight minus is that the tyre noise is noticeable. As for me, this is not a problem because a moderately loud music eliminates this drawback. Read more Collapse

Falken ZE 914 pleasantly surprised me, compared to summer predecessors - Bridgestone Potenza Re 50 205/50R16, now I have Falken 215/40R17 and they are much better than Bridgestone; although they had larger profile I could feel every unevenness on the road. They are also much harder than Falken. In wet conditions even with the wet track I haven’t sensed any disturbance. Potenza was able to spin the wheels on the wet. The only minus I found in Falken is that during the hot weather they warm up and you can smell the burnt rubber while approaching them. They are still new and not used a lot, but I don’t think it’s something serious. The smell is perceptible only as auto stands in a garage after driving :) NOISE -> as for wider tyres than the previous ones are quieter, even than Nexen (much louder hum) IN GENERAL - I recommend 100%, no damage despite few accidents with curbs :) Read more Collapse

Due to the low profile tyres do not judge the suppression of inequality. On dry roads at least they behave properly. On wet as well. These are my first low profile tyres so driving for me is great. It is possible that it is because of the AWD drive - also a first for me. I’ve read that there are problems with balancing these tyres but for me not a problem. What’s interesting is that in the event of a pressure drop (due to the significant cooling) the steering wheel started to vibrate at speeds above 60m/h. After adapting the inflation level for the required use the problem disappeared. After driving 14k miles consumption is very low. Overall, I am satisfied with Falken ZE 914. Usually I bought tyres of manufacturers such as Dunlop and Goodyear, however, in this case due to grip on the wet roads they can be compared to Dunlop FastResponse that I had in the other car. I've had quite a few Falkens in the past and these are no different to the usual quality that I've had. When we bought this car it was shod with Michelin's on front and Continental's on rear this had the entertaining effect of making the car quite unstable in the wet, especially straight line braking. Since the Falkens were fitted the car is a different animal altogether, she really holds the line in corners and feels very sure footed on fast winding country roads. The wet grip is very good when driving enthusiastically and again feels sure footed. Now I dare say that the car itself does handle well but these tyres definitely compliment the suspension and chassis. Some reviews mention lots of road noise, I have to be honest my car seems quieter on these Falkens than my last Michelin's and Continentals. Overall I have no problem recommending these tyres to anyone. Read more Collapse

From June to November I covered more than 6 thousand miles with those tyres in all conditions from heat to the early November frost. In my opinion, tyres recommendable. They really didn’t disappoint me in any situation giving me the confidence during braking and feeling of the car in every situation. As for my driving style, I gave them a test ;) outside the city with speed 70-90m/h (usually in the limits of traffic regulations) quiet driving without any crazy acts in the city but can be described as a dynamic. If it comes to consumption it’s by the books so I can give positive comment as well. In conclusion I can safely recommend Falken ZE 914 because tyres are really good and they have one more advantage - price :) I hope that my review will help you in making a good choice... I repeat really worth investing in! Read more Collapse

The car that my Falken ZE 914 tyres are fitted to is a 2008 Mercedes Vito 120, 205 BHP, rear wheel drive. Previously, I had Kumho KU31 tyres and I was very happy with them. They gave me good grip on both wet and dry. No corners were a problem, the tyres were reliable and had a nice visual look. With my driving style, they have lasted for 1,5 season. After consulting the helpline of Oponeo I was suggested to get Falken ZE 914 and advised that these tyres will be better at the same price. I tried them and unfortunately I am heavily disappointed. They are no match for Kumho when it comes to grip in the corners (they lose it slightly when coming out of the corner) and stability while driving. I just don't trust these tyres. For me, it's better to get Kumho or Toyo tyres instead of Falken ZE 914. Read more Collapse

205/50R17 is a quite expensive size, but Falken ZE 914 has a decent price and for such, the tyres are worth buying. Generally I think they are for a mixed use - to go for a vacation with your family, etc. For such use, Falken ZE 914 is much better than eg. Nokian, Michelin, Bridgestone and Pirelli. They have to be "driven off" and adjust themselves, first miles may seem a bit rough, like on premium tyres. They are very reliable on wet and in ruts, and I can't complain about anything on dry. Very predictable in sharp corners, they don't lose traction all of the sudden. I definitely recommend Falken ZE 914 tyres, I also decided to get winter set of Falken tyres - just to have a matching set. I personally am satisfied with them. Read more Collapse

The tyres are better than the previous manufacturers run flat that are fitted as standard to this model . They are quieter and not as rigid and bumpy . Grip is excellent in all road conditions . Car is regularly driven at speed over A class roads and on motorways . The price paid will virtually allow for another set to be fitted when compared against a premium run flat as recommended by BMW . Insurance company were advised of the change away from manufacturers recommended tyre type and no additional premium added . Overall very happy with he only reservation being no spare option . However I made sure insurance policy included recovery to nearest garage which is still considerably cheaper than run flat tyres. Read more Collapse

After world-record-rapid wear of my previous Michelin Primacy HP tyres I decided to get tyres from another brand. I did ca. 3500 miles on Falken ZE 914 tyres (on various road types) and I can say they behave very well during fast driving, emergency braking, they have superb rolling resistance on both dry and wet pavement. In my opinion, Falken ZE 914 not only match the premium tyres with their capabilities, but they are also way cheaper. I recommend them with a clear conscience. Read more Collapse

I needed two front tyres for my minivan and I bought Falken ZE 914. I didn't know the brand, and the price wasn't the lowest as well. I can say that they handle transferring the power of 235 BHP on the road very well, but they only have one drawback - they are loud. The noise appears at 80 MPH and may disturb a bit. Despite that fact, I will buy them again as Falken ZE 914 is a good tyre. Just remember they are asymmetric tread pattern tyres. Read more Collapse

I didn't want to break the bank on some new tyres, but i also wanted the best value for money, these haven't let me down. pro's: decent grip in dry and wet wearing average - at least not fast like my previous khumo's! excellent value con's: tyres feel a little harder than my last set. a little noisey. For such a price, Falken ZE 914 are very good tyres! I was expeting them to be much louder than it really is, but it may be a result of soundproofing the car. On dry they are sensational, however I can see significant decrease in the quality of braking on wet - however it's not troublesome. On good pavement Falken ZE 914 behave great on both wet and dry. I can recommend these tyres without any hesitation! Read more Collapse

Falken ZE 914 do a good job in all conditions, they grip well in the corners and allow to control the car in the puddles. I do over 15000 a year and they are standing up well so far. If you drive agressivly you will shorten the life of the tyre. That said you will shorten any make of tyres life with aggressive driving. I'm an intermediate driver and so far there are wearing well. Read more Collapse
