Nokian

Nokian-Lamele

The Nokian WR D3 is a winter tyre that performs exceptionally well in extreme weather conditions. It has been created by the Finnish company Nokia Tyres, which specialises in tyres designed for this time of year. The model features a directional tread pattern with grooves shaped so as to help quickly and effectively disperse water, mud and snow from under the wheels. This all means that driving on Nokian WR D3 tyres is exceptionally safe, whatever the weather.

Nokian-Rowki

The model is made from an innovative compound noted for its excellent flexibility at low temperatures. The tyre therefore has an increased contact area with the ground, resulting in better grip. The compound used to make the tyre is also very durable and lighter than traditional compounds. The designers have therefore managed to decrease rolling resistance in the Nokian WR D3, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Nokian-bieznik

Reduced fuel consumption and the extended service life of the tyre mean that the Nokian WR D3 is very economical to run. The model also features an optimum distribution of forces within the tyre. This means that the tread wears slowly and drivers can enjoy the full range of performance features of the Nokian WR D3 for its entire lifetime, without having to worry about a gradual loss of grip or a deterioration in performance. The Nokian WR D3 is the ideal solution for drivers who like to feel safe and secure behind the wheel, even in severe winter conditions, and who are looking for an uncompromising performance and short braking distances.

Nokian Tyres is an independent Finnish tyre manufacture. The company is particularly renowned for its winter tyres, which perform very well in extreme conditions. It has been designed for the demanding Scandinavian weather, which is why it also handles European conditions extremely well. The Nokian Tyres production lines produce tyres for passenger cars, agricultural machinery, bicycles, vans, lorries and tyres intended for specialist industrial and forestry machinery. The company's production plants are located in Finland and Russia.

    Opinion from outside the UK

Nokian WR D3 is a brilliant tire, I live in Ireland and having 100 mile round trip on country roads and motorway every now and then. I first tried Nokian tires on my old Merc 190E, the WRA3 were a super tire even in heavy snow in an old car fitted on the rear wheels. I also put these on my wife's Citroen C3 HDI, I had a 2005 Subaru Outback that had them as well. The Citroën really holds the road well in all conditions. We drive on winter tires all year round with both cars, These tyres maintain a good grip despite heavy raining conditions. In frost and snow tires are superb too. Feeling very secure having them.I feel like i can literally go anywhere despite the conditions. Once i bought Hankook Winter I have on my Evo ICEPT Audi A4 TDI130 Before 2002, I could not afford Nokians back then but looking back, I would have waited and spent extra. € 150 as I 'have little faith in the Hankook, they remain well suited to heavy rains and when the tempetature in 7deg below, but nothing like the quality of Nokian WR D3. So far, we have made 13.000 miles on our current tires, wear is excellent but maybe I could swap them earlier, since the front are wearing faster than the rer ones show much more wear than the rear so I. Incidentally summer, I raise the pressure to 42psi to reduce wear, now its winter I turn to 32psi. I will change my Hankooks in October 2015 for a series of Nokians that I will have more faith in. The tires can be expensive, but they are the only thing that separates us from the road, i don't think that most people in Ireland know what are the benefits of winter tyres, but given our low winter weather and heavy rains associated with treated poorly maintained back roads they make perfect sense. Opinion from outside the UK

I got Nokian WR D3 by the size 185/60/14 82T Russian production. In its opinion, I will only refer to other winter tires which i was using, and were using Goodyear UltraGrip 6, Fulda Kristall Montero, Kleber Krisalp HP and BFGoodrich Winter GForce. I chose this tire because judging from reviews of the users, the price and the fact that in tests has been assessed as a versatile tire, made it look very good. Upon delivery their appearence is disappointing. Definitely do not look like the premium class. There were no problems with balancing. The Nokian WR D3 is rather quiet. more quiet than Goodyear, but louder than Kleber and BFGoodrich that I have on 2 other cars. Braking, steering, road grip on both wet and dry conditions is very much in order, and the best of all the tires we had. In this respect. Perhaps in the Continental test it comes out better, but the tests aren't always objective. In addition, the road is not a test track and the differences of 0.5 or 1 m for the average user are virtually unnoticeable. Pretty good with suppressing road inequalities. I can safely recommend this tire, even to those who ride quite aggressively. The tire behaves predictably, and well, you can sense when its grip ends. For the price I am most pleased. In my opinion, rivaling performance tire Goodyear and Continental tyres for less money, but slightly worse looks. If someone depends on making the best ratio quality / durability / price it would be a good choice. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I'm giving an opinion on Nokian WR D3 after testing them in typical winter conditions. My rating relates to the size 185/60/14. Tires have been produced in Russia. On the snow they are cool. Both start-off and braking without any issues. ABS triggers very rarely. Traction on the slush and the snow also very good. After the intentional introduction of the car into a skid feel that the tyre slips for just a moment and then firmly grips. Very predictable when it comes to the grip - easy to handle. Braking on wet roads typically falls slightly worse. On a dry road or unparalleled. Very good with suppressing road inequalities. Avarage noise level. Kind of premium class and on the tire looks. I drove once on the German budget brand tires called Platin and they looked better. But these are traits that do not directly affect the security so you can live with them. When it comes to driving parameters I think that is a very good tire for a good price. So far I have used the Fulda Kristall Montero winter tires, Goodyear Ultragrip 7, Kleber Krisalp HP and BF Goodrich Winter GFrorce. Nokian tire is definitely the best of the ones I mentioned. When installing Nokian WR D3 wthere were no problems with balancing. Weights have max. 10g, so i do not confirm, alleged Russia Nokian tyres to be having had problems with balancing. I would definitely recommend! Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 after long deliberation. I have replaced my old GY UG7, used for two years. I have family in central Poland, and often travel the route Szczecin - wiochy near Warsaw, and this year there was no shortage of snow there ;) tires much better than the above mentioned, in the snow fighting bravely and allow you to feel really safe. For wet (rain) conditions provoked lose grip of course, but they do it in a very gentle and predictable manner. There is no question of a sudden (surprising) reaction. Shelf life after such a short period is difficult to assess. I think the noise is normal. I would definitely recommend this gum to anyone who wants to feel safe. Price as most appropriate to the offered parameters. If someone wants to save for your family's safety class is recommended budget :) For next season I changed the tire in the car wife and I already know what I want to buy winter tires. Yours. I bought a set of these just after they were released, before there were any reviews. I've been very happy with them. My previous set of summer tyres wore out last year so I have been using them all year. They have very soft sidewalls, I am not sure why some people say they are stiff. They are comfortable and reasonably quiet. The wet grip is not particularly great, but I have had far worse tyres in the wet: Michelin Energy on this car. They are far better than Goodyear eagle F1s in the wet below about 7C! The dry grip is reasonable. They work fine in the summer without wearing badly. they are great in the winter. they have surprisingly low rolling resistance, a bit lower than my old Michelin Energies! The treadwear is also very good. I will be using them all year in the UK now, they are OK in the summer, when tyres have much better grip anyway, and very good in the winter when things tend to be more slippery. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 after long consideration, analysis of the test results, especially German associations. The tires are very comfortable, nevertheless at the beginning I had a little problem with it. When the pressure is correct, clearly improved traction, while the soft comfort tyres remained. The positive effect of this softness is mild dialing holes in the road, which are the most troublesome in early spring. This tyres are also very quiet, even when driving fast. On snow and slush revelation - as predicted, but this season it was a little. Comparing them to the Continental I've got the impression that Nokian WR D3 better behaved in the wet. It seems to me that in the premium brand in general, the differences between the tyres are negligible. In any case, I fully recommend Nokian WR D3 to all drivers in every winter conditiones. Nokian WR D3 is really soft tyre and with normal pressure (mine is 2.2), car was very fluent. Everything comes back to the normal, when I have changed pressure on 2.4. On wet surfaces Nokian WR D3 could perform much better, on the dry surfaces everything looks completely fine – but I am not so naïve to believe, that winter tyre on the dry surface will be as good as summer one. If we are talking about winter conditions – snow and ice, I can fully recommend this tyres. During this winter wasn't too much snow, but these tyres perform fantastic on ice and icy hills. When the other cars slipped, I drove up the hill without any problem. If you are looking for winter tyre, which cope in every conditions tyres can disappoint a little, but it fantastic tyre in conditions, where all other tyres back down. Read more Collapse

I have just bought a brand new car. After a while I need to change tyres for winter and I chose Nokian WR D3. I noticed much better acceleration and lower rolling resistance. I am comparing to my summer Hankook tyres. Noise level was also much lower and I think gas wear was smaller as well. On this tyres I have driven up to 900 miles and I am very found of them. Winter wasn't very hard this year, but during the thaw, Nokian WR D3 performed very well on slush. I couldn't notice any sign of aquaplaning. I am living in a countryside, so I am driving to the city every day, I did not have any dangerous situation, even the surface was icy, wet or dry. Wear of the tread is very very low, so I will drive on my Nokians at the winter as well. I fully recommend Nokian WR D3. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 tires as suggested by the Oponeo's staff (I wanted to buy another brand, but the employee was able to convince me to buy Nokians) and NO regrets there. Although the winter was so-so, but a couple of days with ice / frozen snow on the road gave me a picture - surprisingly good exeperience. I am accustomed to the fact that a certain parts of some roads to is covered by ice and the cars slide there. This time my car slipped just a little in a fairly "controlled" manner. Another time, under similar conditions, I was surprised that the ABS did not trigger (which happend often on previous tyres). Of course we are talking about the new tires properly inflated after the first few hundred kilometers. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 is a really great tire. I drove on different winter tyres, including Goodyear UltraGrip 7, GForce Winter BFGoodrich, Kleber Krisalp HP, Fulda Kristall Montero and Nokian WR D3 is really the best of them. The good price you get for a product which performance can safely match the Dunlops and Continentals. Excellent on snow. On the wet ABS was not turned on even once. I've even tried those on the track once and they didn't let me down. You can safely use I bought Nokian WR D3 in the summer in dry conditions. There were no time when the car lost it's traction. As for the noise that is also good. Not quietest possible, but the don't make you angry during long trips. I would highly recommend! Read more Collapse

I would definitely recommend Nokian WR D3 tires! Definitely a very good quality-price ratio. Nokians very sticks to the surface very well. Grants good drainage in the wet. I did not expect that the car will be handling this well on both wet and dry conditions. (winter this year rather mild so I can assess that driving on dry pavement can not be faulted). You do not see signs of wear. I did not notice that my car burn more fuel than previously (with Michelins on it). I thin that the price of the Michelin tyres may be a barrier for some people so Nokians are a great deal! If today I were to buy new winter tires are definitely would choose Nokian WR D3 because of their very good quality at affordable price. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 are the really high-end tires at an affordable price. Super grip on any type of surface, in the snow and slush they behave almost perfectly. Previously I was using Michelin tires but they were not as great as Nokians. Personally, I would recommend anyone to purchase tires I bought Nokian WR D3 because they are great for winter conditions. Besides, these are Finnish brand tires and you can tell that the Finns know best when it comes to winter tyres (i heard they firs invented them). I would encourage anyone who can't make up their mind on which tyre to choose. At the end I will add that the fuel consumption of these tires is much lower than with the previously used Michelin tyres. Read more Collapse

Nokians are really worth every penny. One of the quietest tyres I have ever used. It is hard to loose traction on these tyres, even when you are driving up to the hills. Winter 2013/2014 was very mild and quite warm, and after driving 3000 miles on tread still shows a depth 8 mm. Driving comfort is fantastic. However on dry surfaces, in the warm weather at highway speeds the car gently floats and there is no 100% precision of driving. Basically tyres are one the most comfortable and quiet tyres I have ever had. Very important for me is safety and very reliable, especially during the wet winter, on the slushy roads. I fully recommend the Nokian WR D3 tyres. I will definitely buy them in the future. Read more Collapse

I wrote already about the Nokian WR D3, what I wrote was: on dry road - average. On wet road - poor. Now I have new expereiences. They act very good on snow. I was in Poland and the winter was realy scary. I did not have any problems with drivig out from a deep, wet snow in the temperature of +2 degrees. It was imposible to ski on such snow but my Nokian WR D3 were driving on it like a boss. When I was comming back to England I had a accident. I was driving behind a truck when suddenly a piece of tarmac hited my tyre. I got a sudden flat - the hole was 4 x 4 cm but the tyre behaved perfect - no wobbling, rumbling. I just pulled-over and the tyre was very stable. Nokian WR D3 - brilliant tyres Read more Collapse

I have Nokian WR D3 put in my Punto Evo. It is hard to judge the snow drive abilities coz we do not have snow in Cork yet. On dry and wet tarmac they are behavior is similar. Sometimes I have to brake suddenly because of the "road morons" and my ABS does not turn on. The braking is realy good. In the corners my feelings are the same as my coleagues wrote above. I am not driving 130 Mph in corners but even with the speeds of 60mph you can notice the "swimming to the sides" ( I dont know how to describe it) but the tyres dont lose the grip. Nokian WR D3 have a good shock-absorbing properties and they are very quiet. Design is awesome. Nokian WR D3 - worth my recomendation. Read more Collapse

This year the snow was not too much of a concern but still when the opportunity arose unexpectedly i sat down to test Nokian WR D3 tyres :) My car (bmw e46) gives you confidence while driving and the tire behaves very well on the slippery snow and down the hill on the snow. You cannot feel any understeering with these, Everything is smooth safe and secure. Noise level isn't problematic, just average. They act very well even at the higher speeds. I do think it's the best winter tire on which I was able to go so far ... why spend extra money on top FPS Michelin or Continental products, since Nokian WR D3 offers the same thing for less money? I have a small car for urban purposes, recently bought. I wanted to choose the tires that provide comfort and safety - I think that Nokian WR D3 was the right choice. Tires have a very good traction and grip. Winter season is very capricious - a few days of biting cold, snow, rain - the weather is not predictable to the drivers and these tires did not fail me through the winter in any weather conditions. Performed well with slush as well. Now in the garage waiting for the new season - in very good condition. I bought it after a friend suggested me to buy them and must say i definately am please with them :) Read more Collapse

I have bought Nokian WR D3 at the beginning of winter. I have decided on them in August, because I had previously Debica Frigo 2 and over time they lost its driveability. I wanted to buy something better, more reliable. From my experience, I can assure, taht these tyres have great grip on snow and slush. I was positively surprised on wet surfaceces because Nokians has great grip. During the emergency brakinges tyres stick to the road and it brakes immediately. I am very impressed with these tyres as the winter tyres and they are one of the best winter tyres I have ever had. I fully recommend them for all drivers. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 in August 2011, because in the Internet there wasn't any critical reviews of the product. I waited a long time to be able to write a good review. These tyres are relatively hard as the winter tyre, but it is not a disadvantage for obvious reasons. On snow and ice remains on average, but when it comes to dry and wet conditions, in my opinion, behaves not so good. Nokians are definietely worth their price. Once happened, that on the icey surface, tyres floated back to me a little, but it happened only once, so it is not a problem. I fully recommend these tyres to all users. Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 is a very soft tyre. The presure that I had in my Nokians was 2.2 bars and my car was swimming a bit but I solved it by puting the air presure inside y tyre to 2.4 bar. The behavior on wet road surface could be better because right now I'm not fully satisfied. On the dry tarmac they are sufficient but a winter tire would never be as good as summer tyre (on dry road surface). I never had the oportunity to drive on the snow with them so it is hard for me to judge. I drove a bit on ice but I wasn't so excited. To conclude: Nokian WR D3 is a good winter tyre but no revelation. Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 performed perfect during all winter, whether it was rainy, snowy weather. Also they have great grip on the slush. I don't want to review them on icy surfaces, because on such surface is always a little bit dangerousThese tyres lead very very stable, and what the most important do not heat the asphalt. I feel very safe during the drive, so I can recommend them also to females. The rubber compaund is quite soft but within reason. It suppresses nicely, and carries water from puddles, but to a certain limit. With the strong belief I fully recommend them to all drivers. Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 during the winter performs really well. This winter I drove on them for a hundreds of miles and I have no complain. On the dry surfaces, in higher temperatures performs a little bit worse. In my opinion these tyres have too soft side walls, and the tyre is too “fluent”. I didn't notice high rolling resistance, so the tread wear will be less. I really recommend these tyres for a winter. Especially for hard, snowy winters. Price corresponding to the value. I recommend to buy them by Oponeo, because, they have much lower prices than in fitting services. Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 are one of the best tyres I have ever had. They are performing flawlessly. The biggest advantage of these tyres is that, they have low rolling resistance and short braking distances. I have VW Sharan 1.9 TDI, I drove 115 miles on them and I did not have any unpredictable situation with these tyres. I can fully recommend these tyres to drivers who value safety and economics (low rolling resistance and short braking distances are unquestionably those tyres). Size that uses is: 195/65R15. In the future I wll definetly use them as winter tyres. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 because it was recommended to me by a friend who uses them himself. I know that he is quite aggressive driver and he was surprised how comfortable this tyres can be. Nokians in low temperatures are very soft and quiet. They behaves well in the snow, slush and mud. An additional advantage is a very nice look of them, because in some cases tread looks not so good. I know that safety is the most importnat, but the appearance is also important. I would recommend the cars they drive women. The problem with the abs will disappear. Read more Collapse

We have ordered Nokian WR D3 several times to the different cars in our company - also to 4x4 drive. In each case we receive very positive feedback among drives, which overcomes winter tires up to 20000 km during one season. Earlier I used mainly with Goodyear, butthese tyres are so much better! This tyres are fantastic on snow and ice. Great performance on the wet surfaces and at highway speeds (up to 180 km / h). Rolling resistance, in my opinion, is very similar to other winter tyres. I fully recommend them, I have never had better tyres! Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 have very good traction on dry roads. Also on the wet surfaces there is no reason to complain. The ride is smooth and safe, even at higher speeds. These tyres are pretty quie, so the comfort is very high. Rolling resistance might be a tad smaller, but it is very good. There was a little problem with driving on slush, but only at the beggining, later everything was very good. Aquaplaning does not occur. You can safely recommend these tires, even left the large drifts are possible (of course, much depends on the driver's skills). Read more Collapse

I have Nokian WR D3 on my wheels for 2 weeks right now and my wife has them for 1 month and I dont recommend them. I spent almost 600 pounds for 2 sets and it was my last expense on Nokians in my life. Car is swimming a bit in higher speeds while cornering. I am a driver for 15 years now and I never had such poor tyres - Debice Frigo were much better. Maybe Nokian WR D3 are good in snow. but I am very afraid what will happen when the rain will fall. With braking- poor as well. ABS is turning on every time. Poor tyres. Dont recommend. Read more Collapse

I used Nokian WR D3 mostly in the city and on the roads with removed snow, so I do not have any experience on snow or slush. These tyres have great performance on icy surfaces and in freezing temperatures. Fantastic grip, no slippage. Unfortunately, during the higher temperatured - above zero (5-8 degrees) tyres had oddly stiff and slipping. In general I am very found of these tyres. I fully recommend them to all drivers, especially to one, who carries on safety. Theese are very reliable tyres, so I will buy them in the future. Read more Collapse

Ordered these winter tyres a couple of days before Xmas, delivered a couple of days afterwards. Amazing good service. Great price. I have been using them in Scandinavia during really heavy snowfall. Traditionally studded tyres are used in winter so was interesting to try winter tyres without studs. Very impressive on snow. Struggled on ice. For UK conditions these are a great winter tyre. Can tackle snow no problem. Never have to drive on solid ice in the UK, should be fine with icy conditions with sensible driving. I bought two sets of Nokian WR D3. Unfortunately, one set - landed on the parties or of poor quality or poorly stored tires. Tires are jumping on the balancer. It feels vibration at 50, 100 and 110 km / h. Balancing is ok. The second set was perfect. The only drawback is the wet braking at high speeds but i dunno if winter tyres should be used for such speeding as i did. Nokian WR D3 are really good tires. I must admit i had the nokians fitted several years now so they are definately durable. Read more Collapse

These are simply superb tyres in all conditions but in slush they are like driving on a sunny day, so much grip! Dry grip is up with any and I find these better than my previous blu responses, which were good. Wear is brilliant and have lost very little tread depth. Bought on recommendation of a friend. The tires have been brilliant for the cold/ wet weather and occasional snow. I noticed immediate difference in breaking in the cold - it improved. And while only had a chance to use them once properly in the snow, the tires performed brilliantly. They are not the cheapest, but seem to be well made, do not wear hard and work well. the only downside as with any winter tyre is that they are a bit loud but not by much compared to my summer tires. Nokians WR D3 are doing very well in winter. I drove this winter about 3k and I have no restrictions to their winter properties. These tyres word much more worse on dry road with higher speeds - imo the sidewalls are too soft and when you are cornering with high speeds the car tends to swim. The soft sidewalls are a cause of the igher rolling resistance as well. Nokians WR D3 have no problems with driving in deep snow and ice. I am very pleased with their winter properties. I bought Nokian WR D3 in February. Mostly I drive in long routs, sometimes in the city. These tyres have perfect grip and handle well on any kind of surface.Tyres are good support suspension and shock absorption take part inequality. They are very reliable and safety tyres. I was amazed with their fantastic grip. Driveability really great. Very qite, so the comfort is high. I am very found of these tyres, I have never had better winter tyres and I've never felt safer. I bought Nokian WR D3 in august 2011. I bought them as "fresh thing on the market" and there were no reviews in the internet about them. I waited for a quite long time before I decided to review.Tyre is quite stiff for a winter tyre. It is hard to recognize if it is a advantage or disadvantage. Nokian WR D3 after 6000k looks like almost unused. My maximum speeds are 80-90MPH. Maybe I did not make a huge mileage to judge these tyres under any curcumstances. Read more Collapse

I bought Nokian WR D3 because the price was ok and they had very good tests and reviews. Tyre in the size of 215/60R16. I compare to GoodYear UG7+ (my last winter tyre). I am very pleased with properties of Nokian WR D3. Very good braking. silent, and awesome grip properties. I cannot judge the durability but I dont drive too much during winter so I dont think they will get damaged qucikly. I think that I will use Nokian WR D3 for 5-6 seasons minimum. Read more Collapse

First time I heard about Nokian WR D3 was in Norway. My colleagues told me about different winter tyres, but all of them concluded that these tyres are the best choice. And they didn't mistaken. I was not disappointed. Tyres performed very well during the hard Norwich winter. Perfect barking, great grip on snow and ice. Fantastic in all weather conductions. I felt really safe driving on them. I can fully recommend Nokians to all drivers. Read more Collapse

These are my next Nokians that I have in my car but first Nokian WR D3 and I am delighted. My car is Honda Accord 2.4 i-VTEC so I have enough power. These tyres are splendid when driving in deep snow and when driving on tarmac they are rly silent. I recommend Nokian WR D3 for people who drive usualy in winter on roads covered in snow. I had no problems with driving out from deep snow piles. Nokian WR D3 are just made for winter! Read more Collapse

I had Nokian WR D3 (205/55R16) put on y E46 320d Touring. They have very soft sidewalls at least I got that feeling. I drive very fast and agressive usualy. In cornering my car tilts to its sides. I had the opportunity to drive on german highways with speed of 160-170MPH and I was totaly scared. I did not have such situation never ever. Moving-off and braking- ok. I did not drive on snow. Nokian WR D3 are not worth their price. Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D3 is another winter tyre manufactured by Nokian, which have fantastic results. Performing really well in all weather conditions during the whole winter – on powdery snow, ice and slush. There is any reason for complaining. Advantages: price corresponding to quality, great grip, perfect drive-ability, very quiet. Disadvantages: any. I fully recommend Nokian tyres to all drivers. Read more Collapse

I've never had to replace a set of tyres after such a short distance. Approx. 6500 miles. I've had winter tyres last for more than twice the mileage, despite running them all year round! I certainly could not recommend the WR D3s to anybody. If I had had time and the inclination, I would have complained to the company or Openeo, from whom I purchased the tyres. Very disappointed. Nokian WR D3 work very well on dry road surface- they behave like summer tyres. I did not notice any problems with the grip and tracktion on wet road surface as well. They grip nicely even in the mud and snow. They start to rumble with the speeds of 80-90MPH but not a big issue at all. Nokian WR D3 are quite stiff. Very good tyres for a reasonable price. I Recommend Nokian WR D3! Read more Collapse
