Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S

Excellent tyre to use in dry conditions. They don't slip on turns. Behaves appropriately on wet. The car doesn't lose control when turning and you don't have to worry about aquaplanning too soon. When it comes to winter conditions, on a slightly iced road (after a night frost, for instance, I'm not talking about total ice), the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S behaves very well and grips wherever it can. Directs slush from beneath tyres efficiently. My concerns are about driving on snow, on a road covered with snow, not salted, in subzero temperatures. It's okay when I drive mildly, but any tighter maneouvres, even in slow, urban speeds ends up with digging snow. Still, details aside, I really recommend the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S. What to tell you? I have already done a few kilometres in winter conditions. I was surprised as it was a long time since I have driven in the winter, because even in the light winter conditions roads were black so i have never lost the control of the vehicle. This is a big plus for me! You can see that good winter tyres in combination with the appropriate adaptation of speed to the driving conditions is the best way to safety. In addition, these tyres should be appreciated for their behavior in heavily snow-covered areas - they bite well into the snow and provide excellent grip. Plus, the volume deserves it on the A+. We had to wait quite a long time for this winter, but ultimately we had everything: icing, black ice, snow, slush, rain with snow, -14 degrees frost, blizzards, etc.... and I still don't know what's it like to slip or lose control over the vehicle... These Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S are perfect :) Perhaps they don't look as spectacular as its predecessor Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme with tread resembling the letter 'W'. They are more common - the tread is more classical, 'V'. Still, the appearance is amazing, and the ISLT system is perfectly in place, which causes that every block in the tread efficently, the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S grips the road. Vredestein have all parameters that a winter tyre should have. Snow: like I would drive on dry, similarly on the mud. On the ice you know only spikes but with traction control you can do it. The only thing on the negative of this tyre is that it gives you a strange sound like the ship was heard but after driving a few hundred is much better. For a few cars and many winter tyres I would classify this somewhere in the middle. Reading the opinions of other users quoting the names of "technology" used in these tyres, I felt a desire to share my feelings. I covered only 2000 kilometres with Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S tyres and I think I can safely say with confidence that it was a good choice, I used to drive Yokohoma good tyres, but I honestly find Vredestain better, especially with regards to the lack of noise at high speeds. Well performing tyres for the enthusiastic driver. Good balance of price to performance ratio and they look the works too. Noticed the occasional spin out on dry surfaces however these were on days where the outside temp was above 10 degrees c. These tyres are designed for 7 degrees C and lower. I First used these tyres in 2007, THEY WERE FITTED IN December,and we had alot of snow, and the grip they gave was tremendous. When all the other traffic could not get up any roads or streets that had an incline, I would pull out behind them and overtake, leaving them sitting there helpless. I drove about 4,000 and I found an excellent braking, in the wet has never gone into crisis, even with important puddles. On the snow, living in the plains, I had the opportunity to travel no more than 20 km, with a good grip and good braking. Read more Collapse

I can't fault these tyres at all. I have used them on my old Passat (05 plate) winter 14/15 and Nov2015 April 2016 on my new A3 e-tron. The wear is even and they will last me another 2 Scottish winters easily. Read more Collapse

Good overall winter tyres, very quiet and I mean it, just as noisy as summer tyres, not the best grip on dry (FWD) but safe for normal cornering, would recommend these for normal road use. Read more Collapse
