Bridgestone Turanza ER300 - User reviews

I do not recommend tire. After 5 seasons despite the fact that the tread still allowed to drive about 4 mm, the rubber tires spękała and had 10 years of age and not 5. For this reason, I threw tires not wanting to risk of bursting while driving.

Pretty cool tires on different road conditions. Ratings can only be subjective. Good quality and price ratio. You can praise or cling to specific cases, pavement, road conditions but the overall good rating.

On the tire przejeździłem 5 seasons. At the beginning it was ok. With time, however, worse was wet. A tire on a wet without notice can rapidly lose traction (eg. On the cusp). I was for this reason 2-3 unpleasant situations. The tire was older, the slower I had to ride in the wet (even if it was just a little wet and not much rain). On the dry I have no objections. However, such sudden and unexpected loss of grip on wet surfaces strongly discourage me to purchase it again. Tire likes to be warmed - in the wet better hold on the long aggressive driving - unfortunately, you never know when you cross the borders and lands in a ditch. In the rain really quiet recommended for drivers.

The Bridgestone Turanza ER300 I bought are H-indexed in the size 195/65R15. You shouldn't expect much silence - they're quite loud, especially above 65 MPH, the abrasion is also clearly visible. The construction of the tyre is relatively "soft". Perhaps the V-indexed tyre behaves better - but I don't have any comparison opportunities. I recommend to inflate them about 0.2 bar more than recommended - otherwise get a bit "feebly". As for the pros: they keep the given direction very well, have clear advantage over other tyres on wet. During a sudden start they squeal significantly less than any other tyres I have used. I think that you can expect a more durable and quieter tyre for such price ( I bought them for about 65 pounds per tyre). I don't know if I buy them again, despite their numerous advantages.

The first thing I learned about Bridgestone Turanza ER300s is the fact they placed 2nd out of all the tyres tested in Auto Express, and it was a promising fact. When it comes to rolling resistance and noise level, they are very good. They're sensational when it comes to grip on dry and in really sharp turns at high speeds. braking distance and starting is very good. On wet they are very good but if we enter the corner at a higher speed the front has the tendency to swerve to the outside lane... but it's more bacause of the specs of the Civic's long front. Unfortunately, they are really slippery on the snow, but my Honda is a very light car and 185 is not a good width for winter. On the ice they are useless. I did quite a few miles ofter the snowfall and I thought I'd get myself killed - it's just a very good summer tyre. I don't recommend 195/55R15 - I had such in a Fabia II and it had swerved to outside lanes in the corners after the rain.

When someone punctured my first set of Bridgestone Turanza ER300s, I did not even hesitate for a moment - I bought them again. I really can't complain about anything! They are really great. I am positively surprised by their abrasion and I drive fast and a lot. Average daily distance is about 100 miles - 60 miles outside and 40 in the city. I know that the tyres should be the same regardless of the factory, but the ones from Spain just glued to the road. The tyres which probably were from Italian plant had a bit worse grip - it can be sensed. Why? What makes the difference? If they start to lose grip, I'll get them again if there will be no better one in ADAC and other tests... Maybe the point is we quickly get used to good tyres. And what's the point in looking for drawbacks if the tyres cause no problems? And why do we have thoughts that the drivers who have trouble with tyres are in the better position? If you are looking for safety, driving comfort and sports performance, I can definitely recommend Bridgestone Turanza ER300s.

Asymmetric tyres are generally good for rear axles, but they have a tendency for feathering. However, reinforced blades which are connected on the edge are a great opposition to this phenomenon. Also, a bit worse grip on wet can be sensed. When it comes to Bridgestone Turanza ER300, there are no signs of feathering. Very quiet. Previous Bridgestone tyres with symmetric tread pattern got significantly feathered, the noise level increased very much, but the distance driven was 85000 miles in 6 years. It's difficult to assess rolling resistance and fuel consumption in the econimical aspect, the vehicle is usually used with a minimum recommended load. The appearance of the tyre won't satisfy pedants, but the tyre's practical, resistant to suburban holes. After ca. 40 000 miles there's still about 5 mm tread in the tyre's central part. On the sides it has lower, "stock" tread.

I got persuaded to buy Bridgestone Turanza ER300s by my friend, who bought ER300s from a seller on eBay. He organized a test, during which you could try out the ER300s and Potenza RE050 As. Opinions of me and my friend are unanimous, it's a tyre that grips great in the corners and has excellent traction regardless of weather conditions. While driving on wet pavement the car still has sensational grip. Previously I used Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s and especially on wet it was easy to lose traction, not to mention the abrasion was terrible. I am surprised that the opinions are so different, I have a feeling like some users were assessing completely different tyres.

I have noticed something interesting. In our four company cars Bridgestone Turanza ER300s with speed index H - 130 MPH were fitted, but because of manufacturer approvals (higher engine displacement) the next two cars were fitted with tyres with speed index V - 149 MPH. I recently talked with an engineer who is a friend of mine, who explained the differences in construction of tyres with indexes H and V to me. When the wheel speed increases eg. twice, inertia forces affecting the tyre increase four times in "speed square". So, as a result, better materials and more plies are needed. The conclusion was as follows, the tyre with speed index V and more plies is stiffer than the H-indexed one. The second notice - the higher the speed index, the more the required construction increases rolling resistance. On the road it turned out that actually the H-indexed tyre is more flexible, and provides higher comfort. After driving 20 thousand miles last year and fitting the tyres this season, I do not have any objections. As for tyres with V index, it's hard for me to assess them.

Far too many of them, I can not say, because only drove about 1000 km. Compared to the previous, which I had (Michelin Energy XH1), I can say that the car keeps better in the wet and even braking on both wet and dry asphalt decreased. What to wear, I think it would be higher, because they are softer than the Michelin, but thanks to better hold the surface. Noise level confounds expectations. A little less attractive sidewall. Before buying guided by the views and opinions on the Internet and in magazines, which fared much good.
