Opinion from outside the UK
I am satisfied with the purchase. Admittedly, I had hoped for better wet performance but it is possible that this is affected by the lightweight rear of the car - that is where the tyres are fitted. Overall I am satisfied and would recommend it. Read more Collapse

I am amused by the opinions of drivers who rave about the super continental, saying that the tyre does not wear out, and driving supposedly aggressively in super powerful cars. It's either a fairy tale or you really do drive like a jackass. I bought the tyres for my 2012 Passat B5FL, which gets beaten up day in and day out. I drive in Silesia on good roads, but I do not save tyres and after two seasons and 35,000 km the tyres have about 5 mm. In dry and wet conditions it is perfect, and what is important, the tyre does not rumble or tootle, which in the case of a powerful engine and lightweight rear often happens. I hope it will last another 2 seasons. I hope it will last another 2 seasons. Unfortunately, it squeaks when starting off dynamically in the dry, and starting off in the wet often triggers the ESP. Compared to the competition, it is definitely high, whether it is the best tyre on the market is hard to say, because as many drivers as many opinions. However, in comparison with Bridgeston or Vredestein I do not see any significant differences. Definitely the biggest plus is the compound, which at higher speeds in corners does not make the car float. Read more Collapse

I have a Golf V GTI DSG (200hp, front drive, car weighs about 1300kg), tyres size 225/45 R17 91Y. My previous summer tyres were Bridgestone Potenza S001 - a big mistake in my car. These Continentals, on the other hand, are really good. Very, very good. They have excellent grip in corners, and their performance in the wet is simply exemplary. The only disadvantage I found was when starting off: they lose grip, and in the wet they lose a lot of it. Granted, unlike the Potenz S001, the car doesn't dance around on the road and the ESP doesn't go crazy, but it's still not ideal. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a tyre that offers super grip and resistance to aquaplaning (or is there?). Also, the tyres are quite noisy - but I guess all UHP tyres are like that. In general, I recommend them highly, and I think my next summer tyres will also be from this series - unless I buy Pirelli P Zero or some Yokoham. Read more Collapse

After buying and fitting new Continental ContiSportContact5 tyres, I was very positively surprised after the first kilometres driven. My car has close to 400 horsepower and I must say that the tyres do a great job in relation to the power and AWD. Absolutely sure handling on dry as well as wet pavement. I must admit that I had the opportunity to drive some more during snowy days. The continentals did not let me down in either. They were also tried on an asphalt track and gravel paths at high speeds. I will not write about tread wear, because everything depends on driver's imagination ;-) I highly recommend it for any car, you will not find a more universal tyre! To tell you the truth, Alladdin would be proud to have such a tyre on his flying carpet, and Ostrich the Pied Piper would certainly not brake any faster. Best regards to all Continental users, especially of the above-mentioned model :-) Read more Collapse

I do not recommend this tyre. I have driven about 20,000 km on it in a relatively quiet manner (average fuel consumption 9.5 l/100 km engine 4.2 l diesel on our roads) and the tyres are worn to 70 %. On dry pavement, traction is good, in rain they are very slippery, and in ruts it's like on a rally - constant wheel slip from 90 km/h. They are not able to drain water in a layer thicker than 1 cm - I tested them on wet asphalt. Noise level higher than on winter tyres. I've changed the pressure from 2.2 to 2.8 bar, but it doesn't improve driving comfort, and this is an A8 with air suspension. The tyre quality is quite good, the maximum balancing weight is 30g, which for a 19 inch tyre diameter is not bad. I take care of my car as it is a working tool and will not buy Continentals again.
