Winter i*cept ION IW01 is a proposition from the Hankook brand aimed at electric car owners. The tyres are designed for use in winter conditions, as evidenced by the 3PMSF certification, putting the safety of the driver and fellow passengers first.
The impeccable handling is due, among other things, to the optimised distribution of the 2D and 3D slats, as well as their orientation. For this project, the manufacturer relied on a special tyre profile shape, adapted to cars powered by an electric motor. The manufacturer drew attention to the rubber compound used. It consists of highly concentrated silica and environmentally friendly materials. As a whole, it copes very well with winter road conditions, providing long mileage and low rolling resistance. An optimised lower-temperature vulcanisation process also contributed to the latter aspect, allowing the tyres to be given a uniform structure. This has a direct impact on increasing the car's battery performance and driving longer in winter.
The aerodynamic profile of the shoulder and sidewall on the one hand reduces air resistance and the noise generated by the tyre on the other. The rolling of the Winter i*cept ION IW01 tyre on snowy roads is not noisy, thanks to Hankook SoundAbsorberTM technology. The manufacturer has used a special V-shaped sequence of blocks, as well as the right quantity and size. In addition, there are striations on the walls of the grooves to reduce the noise caused by the compressed air under the tread.
