Michelin Pilot Super Sport

These tyres are great, however here are a couple of problems... 1: One of the fronts needed a load of weight to get it balanced correctly and its still not 100% correct, I would have rejected it had I known. 2: I bought 4x tyres (staggered rears) and all four have different manufacture dates, I was expecting that all four would be produced in the same month (since I ordered at the same time). I bought in 2015 and one was even a 5014 production date, not pleased at all, I even paid the extra so that they were 2015!!!! (they had others on the site with older dates, I specifically avoided them). Had I known these might have been problems, I would have paid extra and bought them at a proper tyre place as I could have addressed the issues there and then. Simply the best tyres I have had on any car I have owned. I put these on the M5 and the increase in grip that they have offered over the Conti's that came on the car is frankly night and day and well beyond my expectations of what a road tyre was capable of. Not usually one for reviews but felt compelled to do so as they really are that good. I cant comment on longevity as have only had them on a few thousand miles but seem to be wearing well and frankly I don't care if they wear sooner than the previous the increase in grip is well worth it. Living in the UK and on wet roads the M5 did tend to struggle with putting well over 500 BHP to the road, which I thought was fair enough a lot of power there! Best tyres ive ever fitted to a 'Road' car. Loads of grip, and i meen LOADS! Excelent in breaking, acceleration and cornering. I put these through their paces on a trip to the Austian GP earlier in the year which also took in some 'spirited' driving through several Alpine Passes and they were fatastic, i could not reccomend them enough for fast summer driving (Don't know about how they work in the winter yet). 1 of the tyres requires a great deal of weight to get it balanced, 3 times I've had it balanced and (at £20 a pop) its still not right. I have no complaints about the tyres per say, only about the supply, all 4 tyres have different manufacture dates and I explicitly ordered 2015 tyres (and paid extra) but I received 2x 2014 tyres, and 2x early (week 1) 2015 tyres. I have had two sets of these tyres. Neither has lasted more than 12,000 miles (19, 200km) on the front axle. I drive in town and on motorways, so they don't meet abnormal challenges. Since buying the tyres I am reviewing, I have had to change again and have moved away from these tyres. They preform well in other respects but not so well that their appalling economy can be overlooked. Read more Collapse

I have only had these on my car for a couple of weeks, but inspire a huge level of confidence. The grip is astounding, the car has over 420 Bhp and there is no traction control light displayed when moving off. Noise levels are very good. All round so far a great tyre. Yet to use on snow and as only had them for a couple of hundred miles cannot comment on tyre wear. Read more Collapse

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are simply the best tyres I ever put on my M3, the others being Continentals (useless), Bridgestone Potenza (pretty good) The Michelle Super Sports are a step up in grip, wear & noise. The M3 has now sadly gone but my RS4 will be getting a set of Super Sports when the current Michelin Pilots get replaced. Read more Collapse

After trying a few different brands, from pirelli, to continentals, to bridgestone. I found these tyres. The grip is amazing, and I feel really safe, even when driving at higher speeds, knowing it will hug the road as i go round a corner. I definitely recommend these tyres for both wet and dry. Initially wanted to stick to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's that I had on my 20'' wheels but they do not make them in the right size for my new 21'' wheels so went for Michelin PSS instead and apart from road noise increase they are just as good. Wet & dry grip, durability, reasonably low rolling resistance & acceptable noise levels make the MPSS the class leader imo. The only area that there might be a question mark over is resistance to aquaplaning at highish speed as the tyre approaches the end of it's life. Read more Collapse

Sutible for fast road driving during the colder months, retains high levels of grip in standing water. Hasn't been tested on snow yet, but based on the tread pattern and tyre compound should have no issues whatsoever. Also grips with no issue in muddy fields. Read more Collapse

A clear step up from the current competition in this area, Eagle F1 (GSD2/GSD3) , Mich PS2/PS3 or Cont SS5 A high performance tyre that works really well in a high performance FWD setting, on both road and occasional track days. Wear rate is low too Read more Collapse

In the dry they are superb for high performance cars. I found that in the colder / damp conditions they require a little heat in them to feel confident. In wet conditions I can't comment as with 550hp and rear wheel drive it's unfair to any tyre. Read more Collapse

Came with the car from factory and I would never put different tyres on. Very impressed with the tyres in the dry. Not the best in the wet, but once you have some heat in these, the car can be like glue to the road. Also last longer than expected. Read more Collapse

In the dry once these tyres are up to temperature the grip is very impressive, they are equally as good in the wet and considering they have 575bhp trying to turn them they hold up well to wear also. Will be buying again for sure Read more Collapse

Great tyre really pleased with it. Dry weather grip it is spectacular and great in the wet. Bit noisier than the Dunlop Sport Maxx I had on before also wearing a bit quicker but not by much. Extra grip more than compensates. Read more Collapse

I had enough of run flats on the mini. These were cheaper and a much better ride. Only problem is within a month I had a flat! Non repairable. But altogether, Michelin supersport out perform everyone else hands down. Read more Collapse

My Astra is a VXR but that's not listed !! These tyres are outstanding all round, no matter how you drive your car these tyres just stick to the road. Would highly recommend these tyres for the Astra GTC VXR Read more Collapse

They wear well are comfy with great feel and grip like glue in the dry. They are expensive but you get what you pay for and reassuring that you know they are going to stop quick if u need to. Read more Collapse

I like the tyres very much, very confidence inspiring, never lost grip in the dry, some slight slip when setting off in cold and wet conditions but I do have a powerful rear wheel drive car. Read more Collapse
