Michelin Primacy HP

The Michelin PRIMACY HP is designed for high-speed and high-horsepower vehicles, making it the ideal choice for all drivers who enjoy dynamic and comfortable driving regardless of the weather. The asymmetric tread disperses water rapidly, improving grip and ensuring that dynamic manoeuvres can be performed easily. State-of-the-art technologies ensure that the tyre follows an ideal line, regardless of the road and weather conditions, thanks to an increase in the number of bridges, sturdier tread blocks and better distribution of forces.

The flexible tread ensures maximum contact with the road surface, and the rigid design guarantees optimum performance at the point of contact. All of these factors ensure even wear and improved durability, as well as protecting against typical mechanical damage. This tread pattern allows improved grip and helps to reduce braking distances on wet roads. The unique silica-enhanced Elasto Stop compound used to manufacture the tyre provides an added boost to performance on wet roads. It also improves traction and handling, ensuring driving comfort regardless of speed. The tyre is the ideal solution for anyone who enjoys fast, sporty driving, since its unique technology and the designer's attention to detail mean that they can now drive safely.

Originally I bought a spare set of 17" wheels for my old Merc off ebay, they came with these tyres on with a few mm of tread left, so I though I'd rag them stupid before refurbing the wheels. I have a local favourite roundabout, which is actually oval, and I do like to slide around it if there's no-one about to tell me off. I was amazed at how much grief I could give these tyres and how long they lasted despite be driving like I stole it. When they break grip, they do very progressively, oversteer is easily controlled even by a rank amateur like me. So I bought a new full set of 4. I have just replaced the rears after 25K miles, all sorts of driving, including a few thousand on the German autobahns. I regularly do 110mph there, 130mph if my wife is asleep, and did max out at 147mph last summer. These tyres have been rock solid all the time. I reckon the front tyres will do 30K before I change them. In the wet they perform just like in the dry except everything happens earlier. They can pull severely if you hit a big puddle - the tread pattern is quite old fashioned. I've hooned down gravel roads, hit massive suspension bending potholes, kerbed them, spun them up until they smoke, basically been very, very cruel to them and they have not let me down. They are not the most grippy I've ever had, but for long life and their ability so soak up all sorts of evil punishment - overall I think they are the best I've ever had. Read more Collapse

Unfortunately I had no influence on the tyre brand when I was buying my new car. Michelin Primacy HP must be treated softly, a bit agressive style of driving causes a lot of skids and it can limit your power because ESP turns on. The worst thing is that when you drive in the corner on the edge of grip, when you see that your car can afford much more (my Ford can afford realy much) the tyres starts to loose grip and the fun overs. To sum up: good braking on soft and wet road, relatively quiet and comfortable - but they take away a lot of driving fun and as it is usual for Michelin they are realy expensive. There are plenty of tyres that are cheaper and better f.e Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Read more Collapse

I dont have any restrictions regarding Michelin Primacy Hps driving properties. they behave good on wet and dry conditions. But when it comes to the comfort (Michelin brags about Primacys comfort) its just a drama. These tyres are not silent at all. I put 4 new pieces (my car is 100% efficient. Information for those who will think that I have any bearing problems). They rumble since the beggining even if driving 20MPH. When the speed rises the noise rises with it.Its realy annoying unless you put the volume up in your radio. I use Dunlop Winter Sport 3D which are directional tyres and they are way much better than Michelins because they are unnoticeable in comparison to Michelin. Read more Collapse

I bought Michelin Primacy HP because I had the same in my Mercedes C but in 195/65 size and I was satisfied. Now I have 215/55R16 and it's a crap. It rubbs of so quickly... especialy on the off-side. Drama on wet road. They lose grip very fast. On wet while driving 80mph my ESP turns on. It is dangerous because the computer takes some power. My adventure with Michelins finishes on Primacy HPs. Surely, there will be plenty of users that will have another experience. I drive realy calm so all those failures cannot be cause by my driving style. I have winter Toyos and Im 100% sure that they are better than Michelins. My next tires will be japanese for sure! I drive about 25.000 miles per year. Braking on wet surface is the same as on dry. very good grip in corners. There are just 2 tyre brands that didn't diasappoint me - Michelin and Goodyear. Summer on Primacy HP and winter on goodyear UltraGrip Performance. I recommend both of these tyres. Now I made 60k miles in 2 years (25-30k in the winter and 30-35k in the summer). Goodyears will probably handle this winter, but Michelins are ready to be changed - about 6mm of tread left). The only issue is the attriction, but having on mind the braking properties, driving on wet, corners handling I have to say that I didn't have better tires. Read more Collapse

Silent, soft and comfortable. You may drive a bit more aggressive but its not their purpouse. Michelin Primacy HP are made to be comfortable, and they certainly are. Braking is perfect in every conditions. The only disadvantade is that they wobble while moing off fast (it may be caused byt the torque 320Nm). They dont squeak. The fact is that the silicat usage improved tyre behavior on wet in comparison to Pilot Primacy. To sum up, I cannot complain... but for such price.... My next tyres will be probably Nokians. Before I put Michelin Primacy HP i had winter tyres from michelin as well So I can compare these 2 particular tires from michelin. Michelin Primacy are very stable so driving the car becomes comfortable. Despite the fact that C5's are perfectly silenced I got a feeling that last generation of Primacys were much more quiet but the handling was not so good. The rest will occure after some period of time. Tires dont squeak while moving off and they dont wobble. The comfort a bit worse than in my winter michelins. Read more Collapse

I purchased Michelins Primacy HP because my mechanic told me that they are perfect. HP are silent but not for agressive style of driving. First what came to my eyes was the insufficient traction in quite small corners... that tyre slips which is a disaster. To be more positive about these particular Michelins I have to say that they are good in moving off and for long distance journeys. Braking ok.... the only disadvantage is grip in corners witch is unacceptable. The design is ok but rather in wider treads. Read more Collapse

I have Michelins Primacy HP since this spring. I have to say that I expected much better grip - especialy that I've read all the reviews. Tyre behaves realy weak on dry surface. In majority of corners you have to be carefull. I even changed my damper but it didn't help. Earlier I used Uniroyals- the same size and price but the diriving comfort was better. In addition, I'm not a huge fan of agressive driving. I drove 10000 miles and I can say that I will ever buy them again. Read more Collapse

I used Michelin Primacy Hp from August till November 2011. I had Micelin Energy before them in the size of 205/55R16 in my Laguna. My review is very positive because they match my style of driving; calm in the cities and high speeds when it is possible f.e highways. First impression after I put them: I felt like my car was glued to the road :) very silent and soft like "daddys slippers" which has huge influence on driving comfort while driving long distances. Unfortunately Michelin Primacy HP is a standard equipment of C4 Grand Picasso (size: 215/55R16). My engine is not powerfull (1.6HDi) but it breaks the grip while moving off on wet road, sometime even on dry road and they force my ESP system to turn on. Average grip in corners which may be cause by soft rubber. After 20.000 miles the tread is invisible. In general very expensive tire in comparison to the quality. I don't recommend. I will never buy them again. Read more Collapse

Widht of my Michelin Primacy Hp was 215 and the braking delay on a familliar corner for me, was way shorter than on Nokians H in 195 width.... I know that place, I know the speeds, I know how much my car can afford... I was a bit shocked when driving the same speed on Michelins (100% working dumpers) I felt out from the corner.... They are 3cms wider than Nokians (weight of both car almost equal)... I won't buy such tires again. Read more Collapse

Good tires on dry and wet road. This is the only benefit of MIchelin Primacy HP. Rest only disadvantages: - very high price, - very loud - very quickly rubs off. Tyres fitted in the factory Citroen C5, They clashed after 40.000 miles - I was driving on highways mainly - 80% of the distance I made was on highwas ; 20% of the distance I drove in cities. I don't recommend them because of the high price and the low durability. Read more Collapse

In comparison to Michelin Pilot HX (which were my example how tires should stick to the dry road) or Conti SportContact2 (which were my example how tires should stick to the wet road). The worst tyres that I ever drove on! Lack of side-grip on wet surface. Every rapid turn causes that ESP turns on. On dry hardly regular. Plain Debicas are way better. Right now (mid April I drive on my winter tyres because its safer) Dunlops SP01 are cheaper than Michelins Primacy and they are waaaaay better - i dont recommend. Read more Collapse

Perfect tires in the traffic jams and while speeding fast :) Silent and safe. I advise drivers that look for speed records to buy Michelin Exalto. I drove my leasing period on 1 set in the city (moving off, braking and again moving off) it gives the real proof of durability. I drove as dynamic as my 1.8TDCi (125HP) car let me. I cannot say anything about the adhesion deficiency in corners, because my car is not used to extreme situations. After 10.000 miles I still don't know how works my ABS ;) I don't drive like a dummy. Imo good tires but a bit too expensive. Silent, comfortable but they are "swimming". After 40000 miles I threw them away. The tread is ok but the structure of the rubber is perforated too much and they wobble. I'm sure that it is cause by Michelins - wobbling disapeared when I put my winter tires. Read more Collapse
