The Michelin Energy Saver+ is designed especially for urban passenger cars, family vehicles and minivans. Its main benefits include a high level of safety, outstanding durability and large fuel savings (up to 60 litres compared to previous-generation models).
The tyre features an improved profile which increases the area of contact between the tyre and the road by 10%, meaning that the tyre heats up less and therefore delivers a higher level of safety thanks to increased grip. The Michelin Energy Saver+ incorporates Eco N Grip technology, which is a state-of-the-art patented solution based on improving molecular cohesion in the tyre in order to reduce heat build-up, leading to greater durability and increased fuel savings. A special internal layer below the tyre's tread provides further fuel savings, since it reduces rolling resistance and increases energy efficiency.
The Michelin Group is one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers. The French-owned brand was founded by the brothers André and Édouard Michelin in 1889. Their first tube-type tyre, developed in 1891, soon gained popularity thanks to its appearance in the Paris-Bordeaux Rally, and the brand gradually became a household name. Large numbers of inventions are also a characteristic feature of the company's later history. The company has been closely linked with motor sports ever since it developed its first tyres, and this still remains true today. Michelin-branded tyres have been seen on Formula 1 tracks, for example, and the brand has been the main supplier for WRC (World Rally Championships) since 2006. The group currently owns brands including: Kleber, BFGoodrich, Riken, Kormoran.
