Michelin PILOT SPORT 3

I looked for a suitable tyre for summer for a BMW 318d E91 with sports suspension (M-kit) and I decided to buy Michelin Pilot Sport 3, expecting this tyre to achieve high results. As for now, I am partially satisfied. Here is the answer why. Its advantages are very good handling, high driving precision, also on wet surfaces, short braking distance, low rolling resistance (since I fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 3 to my car, I didn’t notice any change in fuel consumption). It has good resistance to mechanical damage – I happened to drive on a curb at ca. 25 MPH at the angle of 30 degrees, the wheel slid off and the edge scraped the wheel. The alloy wheel was damaged and the tyre didn’t have any signs of that hit. They also absorb the bumps well (and these are non-Run Flat tyres) despite its relatively low profile. Its drawback is definitely its noise level. I can hear their humming (tyres are 225/45R17) at 40 MPH already, and above 60 MPH it combines with the sound of the air around the car. I was expecting this tyre to be much more quiet, despite the fact it’s a “sports” tyre. I don’t rate its wear as I have only done ca. 1800 miles, and as for now there are no signs of wear. The best Tyre by far, I have noticed how much more speed I can take round corners without the car letting go and how much harder I can accelerate out of very low speed corners. The grip in the wet is phenomenal, the first time I drove in the wet with these tyres on the front I forgot it was raining the handling did not change until I noticed the car over steer in tight corners. I do not have the Michelin pilot sport 3's on the rear axle, since fitting them to the front I have noticed that the car now likes to over steer and loose the rear end in wet conditions due to the much higher levels of front end grip. My rear tyres are no way near the wear limit but I shall be upgrading the rears to ps3's within the next week. It is not coincidence that high powered cars such as koenigseggs ect all come with either pilot super sport tyres or sport cup 2 tyres. If you have a Fiesta ST PLEAS FORGET any other Tyre, these are the ones to have, I have tried many top range and middle such as Hankook v12 evo (current rear tyres) and Uniroyal RS3, Contisc3 and pirelli P Zero and whilst they have some good characteristics the PS3's blow them out of the water Read more Collapse

Some of these reviews are hilarious. I appreciate comments are global but some of the chinglish is funny. Anyway back to the tyres. I appreciate tyres are a personal thing, and after so many cars and so many different sizes, one thing i find constant is tyre wear. Now i find when i replace tyre on my cars, here in the UK you can bank on it being a 50 50 mix of wet and dry most of the year can't we ? other brands grip just fine, some even last a while, some refuse to wear out and crumble away (Pirelli) and others just refuse to grip full stop. I choose michelins now because apart from lasting nearly lasting twice as long as budget tyres, the low road noise is important but one bug bear of mine is when a tyre is half worn and you hit white lines to be dragged off in all directions - well the Michelins seem to wear well and are far more predictable than others. Yes they are expensive, but they last, they wear well, they are comfortable but most importantly they grip when you need it. The Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is better than the PS2 in many ways. First of all, behaviour on wet is better than the one of any other summer tyre in that size. The tyre is extremely resistant to aquaplanning, allowing for much safer and more enthusiastic driving in the rain. Behaviour on dry leaves nothing to complain about. The braking distance may be a little shorter than the other tyres, but the grip and stability in the corners at high speed (over 150 MPH on the motorways) are at the highest level. The tyre wears faster, but it's the soft compound that provides the parameters. Tire worth the money. I recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 3 to those drivers who like driving fast and powerful cars. I've tried various top brand tyres and these are far the best on my fiesta. Sure grip and handling are great, a lot better than the tyres it came with, I always thought the front end was going to slide away, but with these Michelin's my fiesta stick to the road like glue. Noise wise, a bit! but nothing to rattle my cage. A great buy in my opinion and dealing with Oponeo is a pleasure delivering them to where I want, when I want so will be back guaranteed to buy more tyres when needed. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are definitely worth the money spent for them. The highest class, as Michelin should be. Driving on dry is as on any other tyres. But what happens on wet is something great. The car is like on tracks, the grip is awesome. You feel that you are fully in control of the car and it goes where you want it to go. And I think it's the most important thing, to feel safe. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are my yet another tyres from the same brand and I wasn't let down yet another time. I highly recommend Micheline Pilot Sport 3 to everyone! Read more Collapse

I use a pair of these tyres on the front axle of my remapped 335d and they have been excellent. As it is not essential for me to have branded tyres, they turn out no to be expensive considering the mileage they made. I do sometimes some cornering at quite a speed, and they've always shown excellent grip and have worn evenly. Due to the mileage I do I had to do suspension maintenance a few times and wheel alignment for better handling and even tyre wear. Absolutely a marvelous tyre! I have 255/35/18 fitted all round on my BMW 330ci M Sport and the grip is unbelievable. I trust these tyres totally in the dry and wet. I do recommennd for summer driving only.... ....and are NOT suitable for slush/ice/snow. They are useless..... but however, I change my tyres over to Michelin Winter tyres between the months of late November to April and again they are brilliant....No getting stuck in the snow with these! I always seek the best tyres available. In the past I have had bridgestone potenzas both s02 and s03 pp and goodyear eagle f1s on this car. The pilot sport 3s are the best of all these. Great grip in the dry or the wet. I do not care about economy or noise I want safe secure grip in all conditions and these tyres have given me that over the last year. My commute involves country lanes, dual carriageway and city driving and these tires perform great in all circumstances. Dry weather grip is good and car handles well and the wet weather grip is fantastic. These are being used in place of Bridgestone tires and they appear to be far more durable lasting almost twice as long. Overall defiantly worth paying the premium price for a quality brand. I am only a simple user and not a specialist, but I have to admit that compared to Continental tyres I got at the showroom with my new S60, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are way better. My fuel consumption is the same, noise level is the same as well. Driving comfort is even better. I can see only advantages, therefore I can recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 3 with a clear conscience. Have nearly 10,000km up on the Michelin PILOT SPORT 3 tyres. Overall they are very good, only slight criticism I would have is that when taking off from a stand still in the wet they can spin up easier than expected. Put a set on my Audi a4 Avant 2.5 tdi 163bhp in july 2013, first time of using them the grip was amazing like on raillines . Braking superb in the dry and in the wet . Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a very good tyre. I did a very long trip to Bulgaria and back on these tyres in the summer. They keep the car on the course very well on both wet and dry surface. They are very quiet and due to low rolling resistance, the fuel consumption also was lower. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is definitely worth recommending. Read more Collapse

So far the best tyres I have had. Grip in the dry and wet is sensational despite the low weight of the car. The only inconvenience is that they are quite noisy and wear quickly, but this is the price for phenomenal grip. Before I bought Michelin Pilot Sport 3, I had Bridgestone Turanza, which I had to throw out after two seasons (ca. 16 thousand miles). As for now, my Michelin Pilot Sport 3 have done ca. 4500 miles and their wear is almost unnoticeable. I can defnitely recommend - Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is worth the money spent for it. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a great tyre which has nevel let me down. It's a high class product, but its wear is very poot. It had less than 4 mm of tread after only one season. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about, but Michelin should be ashamed of such tricks like they did with Michelin Pilot Sport 3. Read more Collapse

Great tyre compared to the mid range tyres i had on before is night and day. Take corners with confidence and dont have to be gentle with the fast peddle as the mid range tyres would spin not these. Warring quite fast but think thats more to do with me than the tyres. Lasting alot longer than the mid range tyres. Read more Collapse

I am a test driver for major OEM's so I only want the finest tyres on my own car These tyres are actually pretty well priced for performance they offer. They are a well rounded tyres with the only minor fault being a bit harsh over trajectories, this is a trade of for sharp performance which I personally prefer. Read more Collapse

When it comes to manufacturing of Michelin Pilot Sport 3, they are definitely a premium class. The tyre behaves sensationally in the corners, I don't have any problems with it, in my opinion it's the best in the market. The tyres do very well in fast corners in the dry and wet, you really have to make an effort to lose grip. The car drives very confidently at hard motorway speeds, they balance well with not the slightest tremor on the steering wheel. For a low profile they are quite soft and absorb bumps better. Since the purchase of Michelin Pilot Sport 3, I stopped to notice other brands. As for now, I did over 20 thousand miles. The wheels have gone through much, the wear is insignificant. As for me, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a perfect tyre. The only drawback is that they wear a bit faster than the other tyre models. Unfortunately, you can't have everything. Yet, I would still choose Michelin Pilot Sport 3 as my next purchase. Read more Collapse

I have the tyres on my first-generation Golf convertible. Under the bonnet a bit trendy so currently power at 200km. The tyres grip so well that, with the low weight and so much power, it is impossible to break traction on take-off. Read more Collapse

I would think twice before buying this tyres. Rubber cracked all way around so you can see cores. Failed MOT. Apparently 5 years warranty however will have to fight for money back. Read more Collapse

Really good wet and dry tyre, bump ebsorption isn't excellent but my abarh is an essesse model with koni suspension so it going to be hard. But overall really good tyre. Read more Collapse
