Pirelli SottoZero Serie 3

Very impressed with the Sottozero 3, having used Nokian and Verdestein winters I was a little wary of moving to pirelli but these were a great price and had good reviews. Wasn't sure how effective they would be on a 245 18 as my previous vehicles have had a far narrower 16 inch wheel. Got caught out on a very steep hill after a heavy snow shower one evening. The tyre bit through and would only slip on excessive throttle. No other 2WD vehicles made it up the hill. Very quiet on the motorway and no noticeable difference with the MPG. Excellent in the dry, had better in the wet but certainly no real issues. Would highly recommend if you can get them at the right price. Can't comment on wear yet but certainly doesn't seem excessive. Read more Collapse

This is another Pirelli that I use in winter. Previously in the VW Psssata B6 2.0 TDI, and now in Volvo S80. In both cases the tyre is brilliant for winter and very quiet. If you accept the price (when paying a did feel a little regret...) the driving on these tyres will be safe and predictable. I am not a specialist, but an ordinary driver without taking a risks. I had in my use several cars and various winter tyres. I rate Pirelli tyres the highest (disappointed with expensive and poor GoodYear UG7). Best Regards Artur Read more Collapse

I have fitted Pirelli SottoZero 3 255/45R19 tyres in winter 2014. Until March I have made 8000 miles and I am really satisfied with them. There were no problems with balancing and I do not feel any vibrations while using them. The wet grip is also fantastic. It is hard to assess performance on snow and ice, because 2014/2015 winter was really nice for drivers. The car drives perfectly and there is no need to correct the the way of driving in turns. I have a re-mapped high torque RWD Met that’s a nightmare in the snow without winter tyres. I have used winter tyres for years and always appreciated the benefit of not ending up in a ditch at the first sign of snow. Although these tyres have been out a couple of years they are still competitive both in price and performance. A winter tyre has limitations but really benefits a rear wheel drive car in the snow. I bought these tyres after long consultations, and I wasn't sure about them, because my wife had Sotto Zero1 and she complaint about them. But these tyres are world class. I have made about 8000 miles on them, they were driven on mostly highways and Scandinavia, where they have passed the test in 100%. Previously I had Nokians, but Pirelli is way better. Since fitting these winter tyres (Nov 2015) we have had little snow but when it did snow, the tyres performed really well. The C-Class usually struggled even in shallow snow with Dunlop summer tyres but there was no problem with these Pirellis. There doesn't seem to be any compromise in performance or fuel economy and there is no noticeable increase in tyre noise. I would definitely buy again. Read more Collapse

I covered over 9,300 miles on these tyres. I have no problems with slipping when I'm in wet corners, and acceleration is fine even on a very wet road. In the snow, the tyre also has no problems! With 15 cm of mud on the whole road, I did not have to worry about losing control of the road. Also when looking at the tyre you simply realize that you are dealing with a high quality product. The "good" rating awarded in the "snow and slush" category is caused solely by the lack of sufficient driving opportunities under the aforementioned conditions (no option - I do not judge). Particularly noteworthy is the low noise emission while driving (even with speeds in the range of 87- 100 mph) + an interesting tread design (category 4 in rating of tyres). Read more Collapse

This premium tyre is value for money with excellent looks, grip and durability. All winter tyres are a softer compound than summer tyres so common sense applies when pushing the envelope. I'm extremely pleased with their overall performance and would recommend these; I have the second generation tyre on a 320 too. A no-brainer in my opinion. Read more Collapse

Good tyres in usage, a bit noisy compared to previously used other models (even the same brand), but in a car other than this one. Good performance of all funds. Excellent performance on snow, accentuated by four-wheel drive in the car. I can not assess the consumption yet, because I used them the first winter and I still walked a few miles. Lasted two winters on a full set, 16k miles in 18months of enthusiastic driving. Will shortly be replacing 2 fronts before the weather sets in with the same. Although only one season passed, I highly recommend it. Grip on a wet surface is sensational, until you want to press the gas pedal to the max. At low temperatures, it also works well, only on the snow I do not know how it behaves because this year not much snow has fallen. Low noise, although it is a winter tyre. I would recommend. Good all round winter tyre - recommended by Subaru. Grips well on snow and ice (just don't expect miracles!), and still handles well when things warm up and dry out - just what's needed in our changeable British climate. Never got to test their ability in snow & slush due to yet another mild winter, but performed very well in cold weather, wet or dry. My car normally spins the rear wheels very easily in cold/wet conditions when running on summer tyres, but no such issues with the Sotto Zero 3, just loads of grip. Read more Collapse

Had to replace 1 tyre due to driving over a pothole which resulted in bulge in tyre wall. More to do with state of Scottish roads than failure of the tyre. Overall pleased with tyre, big improvement of Sottozerro 2 in terms of grip in wet and snow conditions. Read more Collapse

Tyre is considerably softer than summer one. Pretty low rolling resistance and rather queit for winter rubber. V speed rating doesnt restrict you on the autobahn, considered than snowfall is rather rare these days. Read more Collapse

On roads ghiacchiate (-20 °) and dry (up ca + 10 °) I found a good grip on asphalto. On wet or fresh snowfall I had some problems in the sense that under braking I felt the rubber skating One moment. But QMC convinced me and in fact I've already ordered Pirelli summer tires. Read more Collapse
